Brazilian grinding death metallers Anmod don't quite sound as most of their
contemporaries. Whereas most Brazilian death metal bands (Abhorrence, Krisiun,
Mental Horror, the Ordher, etc) specialize in lightspeed genre exercises Anmod
sound more European as their attack is more deliberately paced. Anmod sound
more like a mix of "False" era Gorefest and "Blessed Are the
Sick" era Morbid Angel with the urgency of "From Enslavement to
Obliteration" era Napalm Death. There's a definite grind influence
although it is fairly understated in the majority of the material present on
this album. The thick riffing, on both bass and guitar, alongside the
straightforward, no-frills drumming easily place Anmod in league with Vader for
sheer intensity. All tracks are carefully structured and the band's instrumental
prowess adds a bludgeoning schwung to the material. Despite being a power trio
Anmod is able to produce a massive sound that puts many of its contemporaries
to shame. There's little place to catch a breath on this record as Anmod
grinds, thrashes and grooves its way through the material at a ridiculous pace.
The production is excellent with a thick guitar tone that is as heavy as it is
clear. The bass can be heard and the drums possess all the power they need
without becoming overbearing in the process. Artwork, design and lay-out are a
bit unspectacular but nevertheless it fits this album rather nicely. This is
the debut many bands can only dream of making.

bezoek naar een "all you can eat" restaurant: veel, vies en vettig!
houden.
tempo doordrammen.

The Brazilian trio Anmod unleashes half an hour of extreme metal with
'Monstrosity Per Defectum'. Simply put, the band has what it takes to bring
brutal death metal - but then again, that's all there is to it. From this point
of view, you might compare Anmod with bands like Inveracity and Cropment. Not
that they're that alike musically, but you know the kind of underground bands
able to deliver fast-paced madness, grinding and beating their way through the
songs. To me, Anmod belongs to that group. With a clean technical execution and
the required solid production, an album like this will never disappoint fans of
underground brutality. Perhaps Anmod sounds a little off in your playlist at
first, because of the vocal style: no piggy-styled or bulldozing grunts here,
but rather a forced and hard yell. It takes only half a minute to get used to,
and it blends in perfectly with the instrumental part. If you need some straightforward,
crushing extremity, 'Monstrosity Per Defectum' might be a good choice.

Soon after writing a review about the Brazilian act Ophiolatry, I had to review
yet another brutal trio from that country. Anmod was formed out of the ashes of
Fornication, a five piece that released two albums and also did a three-month
lasting tour through Europe in 2004. After that tour, three of its members
decided to start a new band that would sound a lot heavier than the works of
their previous band. The result is their debut record entitled Monstrosity Per
Defectum, released through Dutch label Deity Down Records. The first word that
comes up in my mind after listening to the twelve 2-3 minutes long lasting
tracks on Monstrosity Per Defectum is ‘excessive’, and I mean that in a very
positive way. During the first few tracks the band seems to have a little
difficulty to keep on with their own speed, but later on they truly manage to
do so and it therefore sounds really skilled. Anmod’s style can be defined as a
mix of death metal with grind elements. The drums on Monstrosity Per Defectum
are the most outstanding, because they are mixed louder than the guitars and
bass - especially the noisy snaredrum is very prominent during the blastbeats
that occur a lot. Anmod’s variation in speed creates a kind of chaotic vibe
that is really brutal but at the same time also pretty enervating. People who
know for e.g. Ulcerate know what I mean. All in all a very intense and
aggressive sounding record that I surely will give some more playtime.

cover van Regurgitated Guts op de “Together As One, A Tribute To Death” cd is
melodieus death of heavy metal album.
met drie man.

Teil 2 der Deity Down Records Promotionaktion.

So the Brazil-based death/grind
trio Anmod is supposed to be the new flagship for our very own underground label
Deity Down Records from Breda-city. The debut of these gentlemen is entitled
'Monstrosity per Defectum' and was written and recorded after the break-up of
the somewhat infamous underground group Fornication. Anmod puts its money where
its mouth is and delivers a rather ruthless piece of death/grind. The drummer
gets a fresh battery-suppository, switches 'on' and fills about half an hour
with blastbeats. The rest of the music can be called equally primitive; a lack
of surprising guitarriffs (no solo's) and Hernan Olivieras monotonous barking
of not-so-literate lyrics make this effort a mediocre one. I can't deny the
overall brutality this record, especially when the drummer 'goes grindcore',
but I don't see any reason to consider Anmod to be the new revelation from
Brazil.

violento e pieno rabbia omicida.

,was es heißt ,so nen richtig fetten
darbietet .Klingt schon recht abwechslungsreich .Selbst so rein technisch

Anspieltipps: Anmod,

isn't too bad. The band rip through vicious tune after vicious tune of
death/grind with plenty of speed and more speed. The band mix in a bit of those
jump metal mosh riffs, that I didn't like much, but the speedy parts (which
there is tons of) I did like. The vocals were death metal and thank god didn't
go that lower than low route. The production isn't over polished and is right

bessere (siehe oben) Bands.

Sotto l’egida della Deity Down
In conclusione

stia a debita distanza.
Pura violenza gratuita vomitata e
Brani
consigliati: Serpent-Legged, Behold, Monstrosity per defectum, Anmod. In
posteri ardua sentenza… intanto altro piccolo colpo della Deity Down Records.

„Breeding the Spawn“-Zeiten komponiert wurden. Da ist zwar schon mal ein
gefälliger Part dabei [beispielsweise in „Hung Up At The Pale“ oder
Was aber
Aber was
hilft’s?
Dauer einfach langweilt.

Come ho detto in apertura “Monstrosity Per Defectum”
brutal/grind senza compromessi.

From the ashes from Fornication a
new band has risen called Anmod. And they just released their debut album
through Deity Down Records called Monstrosity per Defectum and it contains 12
brutal Death/Grind metal songs. I must say that nothing on this album sounds
really original but still it all sounds very brutal. The production of
Monstrosity per Defectum is okay but it seems that the guitar sound is very different
between the songs almost if they are recorded at different studio's, the drum
sound is amazing (respect for the blast of Johnny R.R),For fans of the vocals
from George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (Cannibal Corpse) listen to Gerson
Watanabe cause he sounds the same maybe they cloned him? I'm not a big fan of
this kind of Metal but I know when I hear some good shit and this is Good!. For
fans of bands like Krisiun check them out.

Do you remember the Brazilian
brutal Death Metal band Fornication that released two full-length albums in
2003 and 2004 and then disappeared? They really don't exist anymore but from
their ashes another beast is rising- a band that has in its ranks three former
Fornication members- Gerson Watanabe on guitars, Hernan Olivieira on bass and
growls and Johnny R.R. behind the drum kit. "Monstrosity Per
Defectum" is their first record and it offers 12 pieces of uncompromising
straight-forward brutal Death/Grind. Hernan Olivieira's reminds a lot of those
of George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher and the same can be said about
Anmod's music- it's heavily influenced by the American Death Metal scene and
especially Cannibal Corpse, Deicide and Monstrosity. The rhythm section is murderous-
Johnny R.R. is beating the skins like a maniac on speed and Hernan's bass lines
are clearly audible and bring assossiations with Alex Webster's (Cannibal
Corpse) style of playing. Anmod keep their playing brutal and technical but
unfortunately they fall in the trap that many present Death Metal bands can't
avoid: their music is too monotonous. All tracks sound similar and there isn't
the needful amount of variety to keep your attention. Anmod can make your blood
boil for a while but in the end there is nothing that stands out in
"Monstrosity Per Defectum". Those Brazilians should put some fresh
ideas in their sound if they want to be noticed in the ocean of extreme Metal
bands. But if brutality is the only thing you are looking for, this album will make
your day!

Verdammt cool.

For the extremely fast death metal
fans we have here the new and first full length from the in Brazil based Amnod.
Anmod is quite a new band which Gerson Watanabe, Hernan Oliveira and Johnny
R.R. started in 2005. These three band members are former members from the
split-up brutal death band Fornication (Bra). For those who are into this kind
of brutalism Fornication not an unknown death metal band. With the name
Fornication they have released some brutal material so what can we expect from
them with the name Anmod? Well, that is some sick and twisted brutal death
metal that kills your sick brain within the first couple of second. Their tight
compositions are insane fast and technical, and to be honest I always wonder
how drum players like Johnny from Anmod is keeping up the unbelievable fast
blast beats. The vocals from "Hernan" is getting quite near to the
throat from Cannibal Corpse front man Corpse Grinder which sounds fucking
brutal and aggressive. The recording sound is superb for this kind of extremes,
not too heavy so we are able to hear what kind of guitar riffs they are playing
and that is always nice. Can't say that about a lot of brutal death metal bands
who are using a too heavy recording sounds for their extreme fast metal. Nope,
I will not mention any bands heh. This album has been released on Deity Down
records (Holland), the same kick-ass label that also released the Hatred album
which we reviewed last week. For more information about Anmod or Deity Down
records check their sections here at BM's. So the thing you get when you buy
your self a copy of this "Monstrosity Per Defectum" disk is
incredible brutal death metal with high quality moves. For the fans of
Disgorge, Deeds Of Flesh, Mastabah and other brutal death bands is this a real
must. So be quick and order a copy of this high extreme death metal from
Brazil!!!

Menschheit samt all ihren Fehlern angeprangert.

Sportreporter gerne schreiben, also dem eigentlichen Song untergeordnet. Gut
Wer also eine gute halbe Stunde gnadenloses,

Quindi anche se titoli alquanto allusivi come "Hung up at the
strumenti č innegabile: Gerson Watanabe (chitarra) e Hernan Oliveira (batteria)

"Hung Up at the Pale" y "Wretchedness and Decay". Mientras

The band Fornication saw the light
in 1996 in the south of Brazil. Respectively in 2003 and 2004, this formation
released an official full length, Descendants Of Degenerated Race (Black Hole
Productions) and Unleashed Wrath (Brutalized Records) and they did also a huge
and very successful tour in Europe. After this tour, Johnny R.R. (d, lyrics),
Gerson Watanabe (g) and Hernan Oliveira (b/v) decided to leave this band and to
continue as Anmod, because they wanted to play more grind-oriented Metal,
instead of pure Brazilian Death Metal. The first result is Monstrosity Per
Defectum, a sonic attack of thirty two minutes that was conceived with the
assistance of Murilo Da Ros, whom I did only know from his collaboration with
Amen Corner. Monstrosity Per Defectum
does not really sound as both Fornication-releases, because the main
goal of Anmod's band members, to create supreme Grind / Death Metal, has been
achieved. The Death Metal-oriented pieces might remind to Fornication from time
to time, that's for sure, yet the main part is much more brutal. And, in
contradiction to many other Brazilian Grind-bands, Anmod do know how to stay
interesting whole the time. The tempo isn't blasting whole the time (even
though especially the drum patterns are mechanic-artillery-oriented) and a few
times the music does really throttle down. The compositions have a pretty
unique structure and vary a lot from each other, and besides, there certainly
is a clear, evident chaos with a clear expression of renewal. Another fact that
makes this band exceed the Brazilian masses is the lyrical approach. The texts
do not just deal with flesh-eating maggots, cannibalistic zombies or chainsaw
massacres, yet with the dark side of humanity, the sickness of the human mind
and esoteric / sub-religious consciousness. Conclusion: my opinion about the
South American Death / Grind-scene needs to be redefined. I have never been
that enthralled by this scene, yet Anmod succeed to put them into my mind's
extreme Metal map again! Oh yes, nice artwork too!

“Use in small doses”
Oddly this Brazilian death/grind outfit
used to be named FORNICATION, and has already released two recordings in the
mid-00s. Changing their focus from straight death metal to a more compact,
grind wallop, ANMOD trod onward with this 2008 release for the Netherlands'
label Deity Down. I would likely buy a lot more death/grind releases if they
were about 35 to 40 minutes long, and if they were split releases. In fact,
ANMOD would have made a great split-release or an EP, as their mechanized grind
is rather intense...for about 15 minutes. By the time I hit track twelve,
though, I had long since grown weary of the onslaught. This all boils down your
own personal taste; if you enjoy this style, you should add ANMOD to your
shopping list. They are a pro outfit, blasting forth in a mighty way. Hell,
even their lyrics are a step way above the norm. As for myself, I'll keep it
near the stereo for random adrenalin boosts.

This Brazilian act was formed from
the remnants of Fornication and delves into the death and grind territory with
horrifyingly effective results. The furious blast of “Serpent-Legged” has the
super sharp hyper snare blast of grind but with a crisp resonating rhythm
guitar sound. The slap bass sound and snare blast tone has Cryptopsy stamped
all over it, as does the rapidly changing dynamics used in the songs. “Hung Up
At The Pale” has a super chunky riff with technical workouts giving us all an
indication as to the prowess on not only the guitar but the impressive drumming
too. The snarled and growled vocals alternate within the songs to good effect
in a vein similar to Corpsegrinder of Cannibal Corpse fame. There is virtually no
pause between the tracks as each one arrives as a swathe of aural devastation
with “Outwitted By Redeeming Features” being particularly brutal. The
relentless “Behold” blasts forth almost uncontrollably as the snare blast
almost blurs into one in places. There are times when the band loses focus as
the songs seem to descend into chaos, and though this may be a deliberate
method to keep up the intensity it did make my attention wander a touch. Each
song is packed with riffs and time changes, varying from fast, to very fast and
how the hell did they do that speed. It is very difficult to pin down any one
song that is uniquely identifiable, a trait very common within the super fast
technical death metal genre. However “Surcease” stands out for being the longest
song and having a much denser heavier feel, but the song is still brimming with
riffs and pace change. A conspicuous feature of the album is the lack of actual
lead breaks on any of the songs, as the band favours a riff onslaught approach
instead. Anyone into Dying Fetus, Braindrill, Cryptopsy or maybe even Hate
Eternal will find this a suitably brutal listening experience.

Total sonorous bestiality!
"Monstrosity Per Defectum" is from beginning to end brutal... brutal? No! More than brutal!
Extraordinarily brutal! Uncommon velocity and intense weight burst your
tympanums... to have the tympanums perforated by Anmod sonorous fury it is an
unique sensation! The sound logic is destroyed in "Monstrosity Per
Defectum", just remaining a devastating reality without harmony,
constituted by a deafening cruel sonorous insanity! Death Metal and Grind Core
are united in a sonority absurdly incredible, showing atrocious influences and
culminating in an excellent work...
excellent? No! Perfectly excellent! Everything in this album is of high
level: the recording quality, the brilliant idea of the compositions and the
fantastic sonorous structure! "Monstrosity Per Defectum" is
synonymous of sonorous aggression in pure state, sounding like a catastrophic
merciless force... perhaps this is a good definition for the Anmod sound:
limitless sonorous catastrophe! Everything in this album is monstrous, mainly
the inhuman drums! The drums work in this album is surprising, therefore the
velocity and the technique are in the same proportion, sounding like a true
cataclysm. The guitar explodes thousands of riffs a second with the intensity
of a nuclear devastation. The volcano-bass expels constant sonorous
destruction. The vocal line is monstrous, emitting an unique frightening
guttural! Death Metal technique is perfectly evident in the riffs variety
aligned with the Grind Core qualities, mainly in the velocity. Anmod got to
unite ability, technique, inspiration and velocity in an unique album.
"Monstrosity Per Defectum" is perfect... perfect in all the senses!
Anmod is Anmod and even if you get to perceive some influence, nothing will get
to remove the brilliant idea and the own identity of this promising Death Grind
band. "Monstrosity Per Defectum" is the evidence that the Metal is an
inexhaustible source of feeling, riffs and inspiration. "Monstrosity Per Defectum "
represents a grandiose moment in Death Metal history, being definitively a
classic of the style, perfect from beginning to end! Anmod is a young band,
however has in the line-up old tympanums perforators. Actually Anmod was born
from the ashes of great Fornication... Then you already know that will find in
Anmod.

niks is.
zelfde monotone straatje blijft aankakken.

"Monstrosity per defectum" kommt gleich mal ziemlich blastig,

dove i componenti suonavano precedentemente.
brano "Hung Up At The Pale" dove soprattutto nel riffing iniziale
l'artwork, rigorosamente in bianco e nero e ben curato.

Outwitted by Redeeming Features ť).

Tanta velocitŕ, batteria a mitraglia, riff sparati, voce
cavernosa, e qualche buon rallentamento.

C'č modo e modo di suonare old
school death metal.
ispirazione come i vari Bloodbath, Blood Red Throne o Hail Of Bullets (lo
I brasiliani Anmod, recente
scoperta dell'emergente etichetta olandese Deity Down Records, rientrano in
quest'ultima categoria.
uscita del celebre "Eaten Back To Life", che siamo subissati da cloni

English (Translated by Manos Maragos):
Anmod comes from Brazil and
emanate from the ashes of (famous enough in their country according to them)
Fornication. Monstrosity Per Defectum is their debut album in which we find 12
tracks of typical Grindcore with enough dose from Death Metal. Personally I
believe that this album, does not have something that we will appeal to us and
for sure do not make Anmod one of the best Brazilian bands of the genre for two
reasons. First of all, because everything is usual and we know what we will
hear in each track and secondly because monotony is the only thing that
dominates here, because of the lack of solos, as in all of the duration of the
album we do not hear not a single one. Surely, Anmod is a technical band and
especially the drummer is exceptional after blastbeats do not stop, while
classic Grindcore passages have the first reason but from there and beyond I do
not believe that there is something that will catch our interest. Finally,
vocals are good enough for the genre and they give us the impression that they
come out directly from the cesspit, while the production is paradoxically respectable.

Anmod was formed in 2005 with 3 former
members of Fornication. They changed there style a little bit. They added a lot
of grindcore with death metal influences and Anmod was born. They make very

Uitbundig divers is
beslist ergere dingen in omloop.

Snel

Sometimes there is exhilaration in
riding atop an unrelenting wave of extremity, other times it's more akin to
inadvertently sitting on a rusty nail. It's all down to the song writing of
course, get it wrong and it's like watching paint dry, get it right and it's
like watching saints fry. This lot aren't backwards in coming forward when it
comes to making a racket, when FORNICATION were fucked, out of the gashes rose
ANMOD. Intent on tweaking their Death Metal roots, the band strapped on some
Grind, the result being an intense beating of the bonce sufficient to leave you
seeing double. There can be no doubt that the fusion has made for an angrier
beast, when it slips the leash it gets a proper gnash on, the trouble is that
for a significant proportion of this album, it ends up chasing its tail.
“Behold” fulfils its inherent promise, strafing guitar strikes machine gun
through, lopping limbs, the opening riffs blister the flesh with the help of
some abrasive groove, what follows is bleach in the eyes nastiness, catapulted
along by virtue of frantic drumming, especially that poor old snare which
sounds like it's been left out in a hail storm. Most of the other tracks follow
the same form but lack the same impact, in honesty they all sound too similar
though “subtleties” are evident. The prevailing bludgeon of rhythm is all well
and good but it takes the addition of some needling lead accentuation to take
ANMOD nearer to the mark. Though predominantly average, this album is capable
of hitting the spot, there are gushes of red amongst the grey, “Weakness Of The
Will” is a proper fire-starter, it's like your feet are aflame, you get the
blaze and the desperate stamping of trying to put it out. It's hard to fault
ANMOD's sound either, the guitar sounds suitably distorted in acid flecked
fashion, the bass is bold and belligerent, drums clatter like they've been
kicked down the stairs and the vocals deliver up the gruff 'n' growl with
conviction. The title track is another example of what can be achieved when
these elements coincide for maximum effect, there is an urgency about this song
which actually gives substance to the title. Ultimately, a few tracks ensure
that “Monstrosity Per Defectum” is worthy of lending your ears to. It isn't a
must have, but for moments when you just want to melt your ear wax, it'll do.
It's certainly better than watching saints dry.

Death/Grind Album erwarten sollte.
Was der
schwindelerregend ausgefallen. Soweit also alles im grünen Bereich.
lieben sollten Anmod durchaus antesten.

do trio paranaense.
Antes do término do
introduçăo obscura para "Hung Up At The Pale", que fortalece nossa
primeira impressăo, confirmada nas faixas seguintes. A proposta é fazer Death

quebradas, mostrando competęncia, técnica e criatividade incontestável, além do

all’acquisto.

Cheeses, there’s not a second on
Monstrosity per defectum that’s not jam-packed with brutality and intensity.
Right from the get go, the technical riffing sets in, speeding up and slowing
down again before you’ve even realized the album’s started. It’s filled with
tempo changes back and forth, and the chugging breakdowns and frantic drumming
sometimes gets me thinking of hardcore. Although the end result is fairly
similar to American bands such as Pustulated and Dripping. So this is seriously
brutal blasting death metal, just flavored with some grindcore and a touch of
hardcore. The chainsaw guitars can be raging forth in blazing speed, all while
the bass is churning and pummeling, and with the drumming tempo switching back
and forth. There can be like three different speeds all at the same time, and
they make it work. Hernan is growling his lungs out, occasionally turning into
desperate shrieks. The sound is chunky and thick, letting all instruments take
its toll on your ears. There’s nothing to complain about with this
tight-as-hell album.

At first I took Anmod to be just
another Brazilian band in the vein of Krisiun and those similar, but after a
while this immediate notion prove not to be very fitting. The trio do have many
things in common with Krisiun, but there's just much more to the music than
that. Anmod mix death metal and grind. The songs are mostly immensely fast, but
the three Brazilians combine this with slower and more versatile things as
well. This benefit the music a lot and overall makes Monstrosity Per Defectum a
vibrant and enjoyable effort. The music is tightly and brutal played. Most of
the songs stay under three minutes which seem very fitting. Even though the
trio doesn't come up with something different on Monstrosity Per Defectum the
band still have made a convincing statement with this potent debut.

On s'ennuie

Kadaver. Das Bassgeschütz, bedient von Sänger Hernan Oliveira, schnärrt
wunderbar in bester Death-Metal-Manier mit viel Attack einher. Ich liebe diesen
Basssound.
Screams und Grunts wie etwa in "Hung up at the Pale".

Damn, this three-piece from Brazil
don't know how to spell the word subtelty ! Their own brand of brutal death
metal possess a strong grindcore edge that might please most fans of hyperblast
insanity… If technique never sound weak (drumming is really sick!!!), if the
sound even let you distinguish the nice bass guitar work, I have to admit the
32 minutes of "Monstrosity Per Defectum" sounded like a rather long
and painful experience to my ears. The lack of breaks or slightest form of
melody do have their share of responsability, but mainly vocals turn out to be the
weak point here. Too raw and monotonous. Globally, Anmod show how brutal and
technical a three-piece may sound, but they should slow down sometimes and
include some variation if they wanna really impress a large amount of
listeners.

Un CD semplicemente piatto,
Scontato e ripetitivo.
Anmod, giŕ Fornication in passato.

“Promising brutality but too much of the same”
Formed in 2005 after three members
(guitarist Gerson Watanabe, drummer Johnny R.R. and bassist/vocalist Hernan
Oliveira) of Brazilian death metal band Fornication gave the others the shaft
(get it, comedy gold) and went out on their own. Keeping on the death metal
path, but incorporating more brutal grind elements, the trio created new band
Anmod and in 2007 recorded their debut album Monstrosity Per Defectum.
Immediate impressions of Anmod are tainted by the age old curse faced by many
bands with small budgets, the mix. The drums are near on drum machine sounding
(though Johnny R.R. is obviously a really good extreme drummer) with the kick
drum sporting an awkward trigger sound along with the snare. The guitars and
bass are often muddy, suffering lost clarity amid the chaos. Hernan’s vocals
however are pretty cool and he has a small, but demonic range of growls and
snarls. After listening to the whole album a number of times I really think
that with more riff hooks and death metal grooves, and obviously better
production values, Anmod could evolve into a name to watch. Opener
Serpent-Legged wasn’t really the best choice for first track as it’s fairly
forgettable. Strangely, second track Anmod is an intro-like breather that
really should have been sequenced as the opener. Hung Up At The Pale and
Wretchedness And Decay sport some interesting intricate riffing, but sound
rather similar to each other. Highlight tracks Outwitted By Redeeming Features,
Behold, Impending Loss, Thoughtlessness and Surcease all feature riffs with
brief hooks, helping them stand out from the rest, but still suffer from a
tendency to be repetitive in structure. Quite often you can predict what’s
coming up next and this wears a little thin as the album goes on, and although
I found the tracks toward the latter end of the album to be better written,
they were still predictable. Brutal for brutal sake I guess you could say.
Enjoyable, just not memorable. Anmod are good, but need to streamline and
pepper their tunes with the hooks and big death metal grooves they keep
threatening to drop during the album, but only tease us with. Brazil has had a
number of bands vying for the limelight recently, many seemingly untainted by the
changing trends of the metal world, and I honestly think Anmod can rise above
the misgivings I pointed out here to be one of the ones to watch. Bring it on
guys!

Anmod is a Brutal Death Metal band
from Brazil, they actually joined forces after their last leader (The vocalist
of Fornication) decided it was best to create a loser solo project and kicked
everyone on the face...thus making him look oddly out of place and he ended up
doing nothing whatsoever. Anyway, the guys from Anmod did do something to keep
the brutality going, and so, after some years of gatherig their mojos together,
they released this debut album via Deity Down Records. So what do we have here?
"Monstrosity Per Defectum" is an orgy of chugging sounds with non
stop shredding, basically this is a brutal album for brutal fans, the trick
here is that this is not nearly as brutal as Deeds Of Flesh it's not as
technical as Suffocation and it's way heavier than basic Death Metal, so we're
talking of a totally different line here; in the end is a very refreshing
experience and keeps the listener entertained until the last minute, songs like
"Surcease", "Hung Up At The Pale" and "Behold"
act like uppers and are placed in strategical spots so the volume keeps going
up instead of down. Unfortunately the vocals didn't grow on me, not even a
little bit, it's a sad mix between fruity Glen Benton and irregular burping,
I'm not bashing the band here people, I guess I'm actually recommending them to
get a separate vocalist, a quartet always brings good luck to any band believe
me...and the present throat sounds are really that unpleasant, obviously this
is present throughout the whole album, so this specific feature is very hard to
digest to be perfectly honest. Well, this is a very good effort, the music
per-se is quite interesting, the production is clean, the artwork gives me the
creeps and the drummer has a great lumberjack beard, so what else can you ask
for? Nothing I know...So if you are bored of your Brutal collection and your
money is falling out of your pockets, give this a try...one way or another it
will blow your brains out... Best Tracks: "Hung Up At The Pale",
"Behold".

"Monstrosity Per Defactum" haar debuutalbum.

Brazíliából minőségi csapatok kerülnek ki a súlyosabb zenék minden szférájából
a HC-től egészen a grind és gore betegségig. Most ismerkedjünk meg a Lethal
újraalakult leszármazottja, talán ezért is használják ennyire masszívan a
első nagylemezzel indíthattak a brazil srácok. Zeneileg a szuggesztív brutal
death metal, minimális gore fertőzte grindcore csépelést kapjuk, tehát a
Ilyesmi
hajdanán méltón szerzett hírnevet a Cannibal Corpse.
Hernan Oliveira orgánumáról is).
óra, a maga 12 db kicsorbult szikéjével együtt.

Brazil's Anmod are the remnants of
another, older band – Fornication, under which they releases 2 albums before
splitting up, leading to the birth of this death-grind monster. Now, Brazil is
well-known for some extreme metal bands, with Krisiun being already a
house-hold name worldwide, and it sure seems Anmod are taking a similar path –
relentless, merciless death/grind that hammers without pause or respite. From
the opener, "Serpent-legged", it seems these guys are in for the
kill; the drumming is inhuman, the growls are low-toned and vicious, and the
guitar riffs twist and turn in complex circles that have nothing to do with
more melodic and catchy death metal their European counterparts create. This is
a difficult album, no doubt about it. It's quite complex, the songs go through
multiple rhythm changes and there are no discernible hooks. They play well, and
are technically proficient, but it still feels hard-to-swallow and quite
colorless – this is brutal for the most hardcore brutal fans, into the music
from a technical aggressive point of view – as such, it fits perfectly.

On a yearly base bands fade away
and spin back into a new form. Mainly for the reason that the music changed and
that has nothing to do with what they once where doing. This is the same deal
with Anmod which comes out of the ashes of the Brazilian band ‘Fornication’.
Only the music just made not a big change. Where ‘Fornication’ just played
death metal, now they play death metal with more grind influences. Almost the
entire time they play in the fifth gear with almost no room for any nuances.
That’s why I can’t get a good grip on the album. It rages on and on with
constant blastbeats accompanied by not very exciting riffs and the monotonous
grunt. Anmod has tons of aggression, brutality and speed and that is something
I can definitely appreciate but using only those doesn’t make an album good. I
also have to say that there are a lot bands that sound a lot worse than this
but it seems that they didn’t had a lot of inspiration putting in some
variation in the songs. Which causes the effect, that it goes in one ear and
out the other. In conclusion: It isn’t all bad but the lack of variation kills
this album.

Once there was a band in sunny
Brazil that listened to the name Fornication. Fornication was a brutal death
metal band that released 2 full lengths before they quit in 2004. But right
after that three members made a start with a new band called Anmod. Anmod
continues the battle with brutal death and also some grind edges. Deep growling
vocals with minor variation and guitars that keep shredding. The stunning drums
are short hacking and doing grind blast beats. And of course the bass is there
with some heavy picks. The tunes hide melody but you have to listen closely as
the structure of the songs is laying in the same line. But the purpose of this
album is to make you gasp for air. All together Anmod is showing off with sheer
brutality, precisement and passion. Ingredients that we all know from South
American extreme acts and Anmod is one of the leaders. And the production of
this disc is very good so with the clear and brute sound you can't go wrong.

pomenuta brutalnost prati kompletan materijal bez izuzetka. Sama atmosfera koju

Brazilian bands have always had a
sweet spot in my heart because of the quality of stuff they did for a long
time. And now come Anmod trying to throw all that goodwill away for one really
bad deathgrind album that will not stay with me long enough to make a
difference. First of all, one thing I keep repeating over and over and I will
keep on repeating until I stop hearing that crap: People, stop triggering your
whole drum. I know it is convenient and it helps fixing shit in Pro-Tools but
it sounds like somebody that doesn’t know how to operate a drum machine. When
your snare sounds like a sound out of the Microsoft Windows bank of sound, you
know you have a problem. Anmod’s drums sound like an MPC 2000 operated by an
idiot, I just can’t listen to it without cringing. The rest of the music is
generic death-grind like you hear every day with a few quirks and some
interesting songwriting ideas. Now if those ideas would be used to back some
good music then they would have shot, but as it stands right now, there is no
way in hell this band is more than a bad attempt. Better luck next time.

Fornication was a band from Brazil
that broke up. Dependent on the number of excellent recordings one has in a
large CD collection, one Fornication LP was worth hearing once every 4 months.
If I was listening to only Brazilian Metal for the weekend then I’d be inclined
to spin the first 3 by Sepultura, the first 2 by Krisiun (They get repetitive
fast), Offal, Lymphatic Phlegm, Rebaelliun, Sarcófago, Lobotomia, Torture
Squad, Ophiolatry, Apokalyptic Raids, Mutilator, the first two from Holocausto,
and GoatPenis, but I’d probably listen to ‘Arise’ before I played
Fornicator. My point is that
Fornicator wasn’t great cause they never stood out from the pack. Then they
turned themselves into a new band. ‘Monstrosity Per Defectum’ is the debut
release from 3 of four members from Fornication in a group called Anmod.
Musically this CD is a hybrid of Anmod’s work in Fornication mixed with the
throat of George “I sing for Cannibal Corpse” Fisher, and some songs, particularly
“Monstrosity per defectum”, sounds like Deeds of Flesh. The music ranges
through various tempos from slightly slow stabbing grinding chugs, to
semi-automatic blasts, and supersonic barrages. Anmod is technical based on
their ability to mulch notes, and changes speeds quicker than a hooker dropping
prices to a John for a handjob, a blow job, a half ‘n’ half, anal, and a
threesome. Guitars fluctuate up and down the fretboard in a sound that reminds
me of the ol’ chainsaw metaphor. Drums blast in some spots, they blast in other
areas, and they fill in gaps with blasts. Sometimes a perfunctory rolls blazes
in, but Anmod is a band that blasts except during necessary chromatic guitar
riffs, therefore, a fill or intrepid cymbal work is pointless. Evidently Anmod
is a Brutal Death Metal band. Clearly they’re intention is to be uber fuckin’
heavy in a relentless musical approach, but they are damned monotonous. Hearing
these guys pound away for 32:16 is like eating a gigantic slab of cheap meat
devoid of spices, dipping sauce, side dishes to kill the lack of variety, or
water to wash the sinewy crud down. I have heard much worse in the Brutal Death
Metal department than ‘Monstrosity Per Defectum’, like Down From the Wound,
Malodorous, and Digested Flesh, but that does not excuse Anmod from being
especially lame, for it is obvious this band has talent. Too bad that from
unending blasts, to rehashed riffage, and copycat vocals, they aspire to be
wholeheartedly below average.

In origine c'erano i Fornication,
negli anni due dischi onesti come "Descendants Of the Degenerated
Race" (2003) e "Unleashed Wrath" (2004)?
I tre membri superstiti,
Gerson Watanabe (chitarra), Hernan Oliveira (basso, voce) e Johnny R.R.
inserito forti elementi grind all'interno del piů classico stile brutal death.
olandese Deity Down Records.
In copertina
spudoratamente violenta. E tecnica.
Disturbance, Flesh Grinder e Hecatomb.
e Depths Of Insanity.
rabbia reale che viene comunicata all'ascoltatore in modo convincente.
title-track e la giŕ citata "Anmod".

Anmod's debut is brutal, though
not in the intended way. It's death metal by numbers: blastbeats, tremolo picking,
chugging riffs revolving in odd meters. Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse are
obvious influences. On one hand, the songwriting is efficient, with fat-free
structures and puritanically disciplined performances. On the other hand, the
songs are so streamlined that it's difficult to tell them apart. Solos,
texture, and atmosphere are virtually absent. Sometimes the maze-like riffs
coalesce into catchy, thorny brambles, like in 'Wretchedness and Decay'.
Surprisingly neo-classical figures emerge from 'Weakness of Will'. 'Behold' and
'Impending Loss' transcend finger-twiddling and are genuinely sinuous. But for
the most part, this is one big riff salad. The production enhances the
monotony. It's clean enough, with good separation between instruments (the bass
tone is particularly pleasing). However, the powerless drums sound like a
sewing machine, and the vocals -- a poor man's George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher --
are mere placeholders. These Brazilians have chops; their imagination needs to
catch up.

In all honesty this band really
doesn’t do anything for me. Yeah they’re fast, heavy, have complex stop/start
sections, but to me this is very, very bland. The drums are fast, but have that
typewriter sound to them that after an hour of listening just makes them seem
boring. A lot of the riffing tends to be samey from song to song. Too much drum
triggering for my taste. The vocals are the usual throaty growl, but since the
songs tend move at pretty much the same pace as each other everything just
seems to go by in a blur. It just seems a bit directionless to me. If you are a
die-hard must have everything Death Metal fiend, then this album is for you.
For those of you who are more fickle take a listen, if you like it or don’t
like it, that is up to you.

Anmod is a band that many may
already be fairly familiar with, however under a different name. This Brazilian brutal death metal trio got
their start under a different name, Fornication. The band chose to leave singer Eicio behind and as a result
changed names. During their time
as Fornication the band went through numerous line-up changes but managed to
record three demos and two full-length albums, the second of which is when I
first came across them, a 10 track 35 minutes destructive masterpiece called
Unleashed Wrath on Brutalized Records.
Though the band became Anmod in
2005, they more or less disappeared into the shadows for a few years before
re-emerging in 2008 with their first release, Monstrosity per Defectum via
Deity Down Records which is where we're at with them today. Despite the
different vocalist, the sound is largely the same though with a slightly more
industrial sounding feel on the drum kit.
Johnny R.R.'s drumming is still like machine work. Exact, precise, surgical.
The man could give you a heart
transplant in 2 minutes with drum sticks, its that exact. The band is labeled as having more
grind influences than Fornication, which is true, but it still reminds of
industrial death metal more than grind.
Likewise, the guitar work is fairly precise, rivaling the of Vital
Remains on the brutal side, but forever straying away from the melodicism that
Dave Suzuki is known for pushing out.
Brutally, this is one of the best albums to come out in early '08. Lets face it, last year was a slow year
for quality death metal, and while that's not meant to downplay the talent of
the band showcased, in a normal year say 5-10 years ago, this wouldn't have
come close to topping lists.
Regardless, its a fantastic album with a tight sounds and some
machine-like musicianship.
Brazilian Death Metal hasn't really been known for its precision over
its disturbing violent style, but for this release its certainly hit the spot.
This is a key release for Deity Down Records, impressive, especially for a
debut if one was to consider it as such after the demise of Fornication.

This bludgeoning trio with
ex-Hecatomb drummer Johnny may hail from the vicinity of fast-receding
rainforests, but their output is 100% North American styled. They favour the
approach of Deeds of Flesh - choppy palm-muted scattershot chord progressions
conjoined with tremolo-picked dark semi-melody, convoluted fills and clanging
bass. They have the same ultra-compact and tight no-frills sound of that band.
Until Reduced to Ashes, Deeds of Flesh always sounded too abrupt and mechanical
to me; their structures were very labyrinthine and technically intriguing but
the consistency of delivery was detrimental rather than complementary. Some say
that the clinical heaviness was the problem. I would say that the lack of
syncopation was more of an issue. Anmod, like DoF, are a very professional
outfit, but the majority of their material is stultifyingly rigid. What makes
Anmod an improving listen with time is the application of other US Brutal DM
influences. The vocals themselves do not dwell on brutish grunts and can soar
with throaty horror-filled rage as the speed increases, rather like George
Fisher, particularly in his early days in Monstrosity. The latter band is
referenced in the first track somewhat with a spiralling riff that follows a
Cryptopsy blast spasm (in fact, nearly every time Anmod go to hyperspeed they
sound like mid-era Cryptopsy). When the band get more jerky and complex they
can sound a little like Gorguts (rather like Defeated Sanity do). "Hung Up
at the Pale" is the one track that incorporates a more European feel
through a strong riff ripped from Sinister's Hate. It is also this track that
first demonstrates a willingness to adopt a more conventional song structure if
appropriate. "Impending Loss" has a superb ebb-and-flow that darkens
in tone and uses interesting chordal harmony. "Weakness of Will" has
a corruptly majestic fastpicked string-skipping melody and "Surcease"
mixes up pit riffage and savage Hate Eternal staccato. Like Deeds of Flesh,
Anmod show great skill in melting dissimilar riffs into each other. Arguably
they have more intelligent lyrics and potentially more flexibility for the
future. However, until they learn to loosen up more at key moments this will
remain a monotonously tense listening experience. There are promising embryonic
signs of originality but at this point Anmod range from the merely safe/solid
to unspectacularly good. Excitable fans of the entire back-catalogue of Deeds
of Flesh would probably get a lot more out of this than me, it has to be said.

South
America and especially Brasil, is known for the extreme musicians and bands
that always pops out. The last decade more brasilian Metal bands have entered
the music business and started to sell worldwide. From Heavy Metal,Thrash Metal
and Crossover to Brutal Death Metal and Black Metal bands.Bands like Ratos de
Porao, Angra, Sarcofago and Sepultura has shown the way to the earliest bands
that now are being full promoted to Europe and these bands are now folowing the
metal history of Brasil. Bands such as: Andralls, Chaosfear, Krisiun and Anmod.
What? You dont know Anmod? I understand why you dont know them because they are
new. They are not exactly new because these guys used to play in the band
Fornication that split in 2005. After Fornication split, 3 members of them
created a new Grind/Death/Metal band, called Anmod. Now,after 3 years they
managed to sign in Deity Down Records and release their first album, with the
title - Monstrosity per Defectum.
The
album is a mix of Brutal Death, Grindcore Metal with inhuman drumming and raw
brutality above all. In
the steps of their previous band with more Grindcore elements and furious blast
beats. The guitars are very raw and harsh with Death Metal and Grindcore riffs.
The bass plays fast, full distorted with no useless themes. The voice is in
Brutal Death mode with screamings that reminds George - Corpsegrinder- from
Cannibal Corpse. The production is very nice for a Death Metal album, with a
feeling of a deadly rotten sound and a brutal death result. The cover is
walking through Death Metal zones with skulls shown in black and grey.
Anmod are new in town but these 3
deathsters are well trained and full experienced from their previous band,
Fornication. They are making a new begining with adding more Grindcore elements
and raising the level of Brutality with their new ideas and the result is
fantastic!! Raw Brutal Death Metal in your face!! A great debut and a perfect
start for a band. Parana’s (Brasil) metal scene must be very proud.
