It’s been fifteen years since this
album was recorded, that’s quite the time span, even Chinese Democracy can see the
daylight in less than fifteen years. This raises a few questions, is anybody
eagerly waiting for this album to come out? For some nostalgic reasons perhaps?
Please answer these questions if you got an answer to them. I for one never
heard of this band, probably because I’m a young Belgian kid.
Although De-Grunged was recorded
back in 1993, it was recently remastered. You don't have to worry about lesser
sound quality. The first song Work It Out has it's H20 or 7 Seconds influences,
maybe even some Dog Eat Dog at certain points, however this song is in no way a
blueprint for the rest of the record. There’s a lot of crossover stuff going
on, punk, hardcore and metal all blended into twelve songs. The song Genepharm
may be the most calm one, thus serving as a resting point, but I have to say
that this album is hardly as aggressive or up-tempo as other crossover stuff,
DRI just to name one.
You could say that Disturbing
Foresights differentiates that way and keep a more unique sound. It’s quite
melodic and could appeal to a lot of people. There isn’t a bad song on the
record, but no real highlights either. If you look that description up in a
dictionary, you would find mediocre, but I wouldn’t go that far. It still
sounds rather fresh for being fifteen years old. But for me the question
remains, does this record really justify a release after all this time?
Although there could be a broad target group for this kind of music, I feel
like there are better bands out there nowadays. Then again, this might be a
cult classic, so please, people who have been around longer fill me in on this
one.

Have you ever experienced a
posthumous release? I guess not, so this “De-Grunged” by Dutch, non-existing
anymore, Disturbing Foresights is probably the scoop. The album was recorded in
the Rotterdam Excess studios in 1993: indeed, in the middle of the Grunge
explosion ("Nevermind" from Nirvana is from 1991), and in that era
there was no place for thrash or crossover anymore. The album was recorded in
1993, but when bass player Koen met the label boss of Deity Down things started
moving, the recordings were remastered and thus these polder boys managed to
surpass the record that “Chinese Democracy” should have for taking the longest
time to get released: 1993 to 2008, 15 years! Well done chaps!
Disturbing Foresights: the name
has a bit of a punkish or hardcore feeling and that is totally correct. The
vocals are real punkish; a bit comparable to Kurt Brecht from D.R.I. or Danny
Lilker, just more towards punk. And yes, I can see some musical links to D.R.I.
as well, although D.R.I. was more intense. It is a kind of mix between D.R.I.
and Nuclear Assault on the one hand, a tiny bit of funk/ rap metal (dead, but
very popular around the time of Anthrax and Dog Eat Dog in the late eighties)
and punk. Not really my cup of tea, but hey…
The opening tunes make me think a
lot about Dog Eat Dog, yet from ‘Positive’ on the other influences I just
mentioned kind of start making their appearances on the album. In all honesty I
must admit that bands like D.R.I. and Nuclear Assault were more intense, but it
can match any punk album…
“De-Grunged” is not really an
essential release; it has riffs we all know already, but it’s not that bad as
you may expect after being on a shelf 15 years. Disturbing Foresights is not
extreme at all and takes us back to the roots from the mid eighties, but it
also could have been either which band. The production is rather shallow and
one-dimentional: a bit demo-like of a good recording in 2008. For that reason I
would recommend the album only to the old school crossover punk fans. Yet the
value of this release is set in the fact that it got released after all.
Especially dedicated to Koen I will therefore play an old album by Hades… “If
at first you don’t succeed”.

Not so long ago you could
win the limited edition single 'Come On Baby' from the Dutch Disturbing
Foresights here at Lords Of Metal. This band doesn't exist anymore, but these
dudes same to have a second life. Deity Down Records took care of them and now
they release the already in 1993 recorded CD 'De-Grunged'. The band send the
producer from back then (Pieter Kloos) back to the studio to give the album a
modern sound, and they let graphical artist Robert Lammerding do the well made
artwork.
What I really like about these forty
minutes of music is the diversity in the songs. A couple of tracks could also
have been on the album 'Noisy Fairytales' from the Heideroosjes (also because
of the vocals and the sound). It is that same 'we do it like this because we
like it like this' attitude that can be heard. D.F. also uses two singers
sometimes and when you listen to the hard rock riff orientated 'Positive' you
might even think that Les Claypool sings along. On the other hand, a song like
'Going To The Pub' sounds like a little ode to 'Hurry Up Harry' by Sham 69 and
during the instrumental 'N.P.M' a lot of breaks show up. Faster work like
'Brainless Brian' is mixed with cheerful sing alongs like 'Chemical Century'
and even somewhat funky styled music can be heard in a track like 'Lonely'. I
also would like to focus your attention a bit on the lyrics of this album.
Disturbing Foresights use a different approach in lyrics then usual. Although
the words are often about a social/political topics, they still carry a
positive message and this seems rather unique nowadays.
Of course, you can always ask
yourself if it is useful to release an album from 1993 in 2008. But considering
the fact that I had a good time while listening to 'De-Grunged' the band has
got my blessing.

niet zo gek lang geleden kon je hier bij de Lords het verloren gewaande
singeltje ‘Come On Baby’ van het Nederlandse Disturbing Foresights winnen. Deze
band bestaat niet meer, maar toch lijkt ze een tweede leven te leiden want
dankzij Deity Down Records komt nu dan alsnog de reeds in 1993 opgenomen cd
‘De-Grunged’ op de markt. De band heeft producer Pieter Kloos opnieuw de studio
ingestuurd om het geheel van een moderne sound te voorzien en ook het artwork
van de Nederlandse kunstenaar Robert Lammerding mag er wezen.
Wat mij opvalt aan deze veertig minuten muziek is de variatie. Enkele tracks
hadden (mede door die typische zang en het geluid) ook wel op ‘Noisy
Fairytales’ van de Heideroosjes gepast. Het is diezelfde ‘wij doen dit zo want
dit is onze stijl’ die er vanaf straalt. Ook gebruikt men vaker twee zangers en
dit werkt goed. Zo lijkt het net alsof op het met hard rock riffs doorspekte
‘Positive’ Les Claypool een deuntje meezingt. Verder is ‘Going To The Pub’
volgens mij een verkapte ode aan ‘Hurry Up Harry’ van Sham 69 en wordt er op
het instrumentale ‘N.P.M’ met veel breaks gewerkt. Sneller werk zoals
‘Brainless Brian’ wordt weer afgewisseld met een vrolijke meezinger zoals
‘Chemical Century’ en ook ietwat meer funky werk krijgt ruimte op deze cd
middels een song zoals ‘Lonely’. Tenslotte wil ik nog even de aandacht vestigen
op de teksten. Ook hier onderscheid Disturbing Foresights zich van menig andere
band. Alhoewel de teksten vaak een sociaal kritische inslag hebben zijn ze toch
geschreven vanuit een positieve gedachte en ook dat is niet verkeerd.
Je kunt je natuurlijk altijd afvragen of het anno 2008 nog zinvol is om een
album uit 1993 uit te brengen. Maar aangezien ik met plezier naar ‘De-Grunged’
heb zitten luisteren is wat mij betreft deze vraag al beantwoord in het
voordeel van de band.

If De-Grunged sounds like a weird
album title to you, please take in account that the recording of this album
happened in the heydays of the Grunge scene, in 1993. And don't be ashamed/
astounded at the fact that Disturbing Foresights happens to be a bandname you'd
never heard before, because the band ceased to exist in 1996! In fact, the band
existed from 1989 to 1996, 7 years during which the band (which witnessed 6
changes in its line-up during their existence) spent most of their time writing
songs, occasionally recording their stuff, and playing gigs locally and sķme
abroad as well. Besides having done a total of 3 European tours, the band's bio
(on myspace.com/disturbingforesights) displays a certain pride in having
supported the likes of Alloy, Apoplexy, Brotherhood Foundation, Brutal Obscenity, Celestial Season, Iron Fist, M.D.C., N.R.A., Orphanage,
Osdorp Posse, Seein' Red,
and Youth Brigade ...and hails the band for being one of the first acts in Holland
to combine Hardcore and Metal with a Punk Rock attitude.
The original line-up consisted of
mainstay drummer Cor (also playing with The Incredible Softies and Hang To Drip
Dry ), bassist Martin (also in Confusion ), guitarist Chiel (also in T.I.S. ),
and singer Demis Fifi , and it's in that line-up that the band records its only
demo Struggle To Speak . After only a few local shows the bassist called it
quits and was replaced by former Lobotomy 's Koen (he'd stay on with the band
'til the end). With re-newed vigor the band starts to play more and more gigs,
and even start getting out of their own area (Den Hague/ Utrecht), when the
singer starts loosing interest. He was replaced by two lead singers Iwan and
Ron , something rarely seen in those days, and with the new line-up the guys
got to play gigs outside Holland, touring also in Belgium, Germany, Spain
(where the band even recorded their Live In Madrid video), and Denmark. The
same line-up also recorded the songs which got included on the 1991 Tegenwind
compilation album (on which the band would be featured among other bands from
the North-Holland area) issued by W.R.F. ( West Fries Radiofront ). The same
label also issued the Couch Potatoes 7-inch EP, split with Antic Hay , and
another compilation vinyl album entitled Welcome To Our Scene . Towards the end
of '91 the boys did their X-Mas European Tour with Germany's Apoplexy . On
their own effort, DF had just produced their 1992 conceptual EP, and by the end
of the tour the complete limited rotation of 500 copies was sold out.
The guitarist was asked to leave
in 1992, and exchanged by former Just Another Band 's Bas . Around the same
time Ron left to pursue other interests, and was not replaced... Cor and Koen
taking over additional vocal duties from that day on. And this is the line-up
which went into the famed Rotterdam Excess Studios with renowned producer Peter
Kloos (who'd go on to record with the likes of Beef , Peter Pan Speedrock
Anarcrust , Motorpsycho and others). Unfortunately, the label they'd singed
with ( GAP Records ...putting the finger where it hurts, so to speak) fucked
things up, and the album (which was to become the band's first CD) never got
released! In stead, the Walking Violations Of The Laws Of Nature demo
containing 4 tracks from the album sessions was unofficially available for some
time.
Undaunted but somewhat
disappointed, DF again toured Europe with Apoplexy , but then Bas decided to
quit. Former Brutal Obscenity guitarist Arjen already had brought in some good ideas
to songwriting before, and his definite addition to the line-up made the music
both heavier and groovier, while also the lyrical content changed somewhat. DF
again went on a European tour, this time with Brutal Obscenity . The final
line-up still recorded the 4-track 7-inck EP Come On Baby (released through the
Smart Records imprint in late 1995), and got a track featured on the late 2005
Bits Of Noise compilation CD (again a WRF release), but disbanded soon after.
Drummer Cor and singer Iwan are the only ones who continued in music (the first
in a variety of projects including Tresspassers W., Stanislaw, and AA Kismet,
the second as guitarist for Possible Suspect).
Around the end of 2007 interest in
the band flared up again, leading in the band being featured on the early 2008
releases of two compilation albums (for the completionists among us: The Harder
The Better, Volume 14 on Turkey Vulture Records from the USA is to feature the
De-Grunged song "This 1's 4 You" , and Down For The Core, Volume 8 on
Dutch Back Ta Basics Records would contain the song "Chemical Century
", also off De-Grunged ). Also, the DF members from the De-Grunged
recording days and Deity Down Records inked a deal for the release of the
album, the recordings mastered by original producer Pieter Kloos . Listen to
some of the album's songs (plus a couple of older tracks, clearly with the
original singer and when the singing was still in the Dutch language, contrary
to the days of the album, which has its socio-politically aware lyrics
completely in English) on the Myspace page. As you will notice, the music ain't
exacty world-shudderingly original, and especially the vocal department can be
disappointing at times. And a combination of Hardcore and Metal does nķt always
mean you get "Metalcore" as a result! Still, when you listen to the
album enough (as I personally feel is requiered before starting any review)
you'll find some pleasurable moments, the ones remaining in my mind being album
opener "Work It Out" with its "human beat-box" intro, the
Street Punk-flavoured "Going To The Pub" , the somewhat simplistic
album's instrumental NPM , "Robin Hood" with its sound sample intro
("stolen" from some children's program chronicling the hero's
tribulations in a series on Dutch television) and, not surprisingly, the above
mentioned tracks "This 1's 4 You" and the somewhat anthemic
"Chemical Century" , which recently made it to compilations.
For people like myself, who've
been around to see all the different sub-genres grow during the '80s and '90s,
the release certainly has its (historical) worth. Those who've actually séén
the band perform and neglected to buy material by them at the time, might even
get themselves the album just to remenisce...but I'm not sure about hķw this
release will be received outside thķse circles!

Vreemd. In 2008 een plaat
uitbrengen en die De-Grunged noemen. Lekker relevant. Alsof het grungetijdperk niet
al een jaar of 15 achter ons ligt. Nadere inspectie leert dat De-Grunged reeds
in 1993 is opgenomen en nu pas het levenslicht ziet. Door allerlei ingewikkelde
omstandigheden (o.a. een platenmaatschappij die niet erg doortastend optreedt
en bandleden die vervangen worden) lukt het niet om de plaat uit te brengen.
Vijftien jaar later lukt het dankzij de inspanning van de bassist en label
Deity Down Records wel om de plaat uit te brengen. Aangenaam, Disturbing
Foresights is de naam. Afkomstig uit Den Haag en omgeving. Dezelfde producer
als 15 jaar geleden wordt ingehuurd om de oude opnames in een iets meer
hedendaags jasje te steken en het geheel wordt in een foeilelijk hoesje
gestoken. De-Grunged klinkt in ieder geval niet hopeloos gedateerd en soms zelfs
aangenaam afwisseld. Beetje metal, beetje punk, beetje hardcore en helemaal
geen grunge. Echt relevant is deze release anno 2008 niet, maar vervelend wordt
het geen moment.

'A lively look back in time'.
We've reviewed a handful of albums
from Holland's Deity Down Records, and so far they've given off the impression that
they're strictly a no-nonsense death metal label. Well, it looks like their
horizons have broadened considerably with the reissue of this here album from
obscure hardcore/crossover act DISTURBING FORESIGHTS. Brief history: These
Dutchmen originally recorded "De-Grunged" in 1993, though for some
reason it was never formally released, at least not in its entirety (a few
songs found their way on comps over the years). Fast forward to 2008 and
"De-Grunged" is finally seeing the light of day with snazzy new
artwork and an enthusiastic push from the Deity Down guys. Of course, one
listen to "De-Grunged" tells ya that there's good reason for
enthusiasm.
Of course, as would be expected
from an album that's 15 years old, "De-Grunged" is an album that sounds,
well, 15 years old. Opening track "Work it Out" is a bit deceiving
with its beat-boxing intro and rap/rock leanings, bringing to mind DOG EAT DOG
and even a bit of 311. As the album progresses, the lyrics tend to be far less
jovial and/or more politically-minded, yet the playfulness of the music
endures. A good example of this would be "Brainless Brian", a song
about a friend who's killing himself with drugs that's stuffed full of groove
and a catchy chorus "Drug story, drug story… it's a sad drug story"
that keep things from getting too serious. From there, these guys really start
flexing their creative muscle. "Positive" is a full-speed-ahead
thrasher while "Shadow" employs a sarcastic sort of creepiness.
"Genepharm" has a rockabilly intro, squealing harmonization and a
heavy environmental message all in one tight package. After that, the
hell-raising "Going to the Pub" gives the 12-bar blues format a kick
in the ass, and "Lonely" fools listeners into thinking they're
playing early 90s SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. They even manage to sneak in a doomy
instrumental with "N.P.M." And we get all this in just over 40
minutes. Not bad, boys.
Sure, "De-Grunged" may
be a wee bit dated, but anyone who spins it is going to have such a good time
that they're not gonna give a rat's ass where or when it came from. Plus, it's
not like the topics of poverty ("Robin Hood") or pollution
("Chemical Century") are going to lose their relevance anytime soon…
sadly. So if the marriage of raucous fun and social awareness sounds like a
good idea, DISTURBING FORESIGHTS is definitely something to look for.

De dertien jaar geleden uit elkaar
gevallen punkband Disturbing Foresights heeft alsnog het destijds opgenomen
album ‘De-Grunged’ uitgebracht. Was de groep destijds een van de eerste bands
die metal en punk mengden in hun muziek, anno 2008 is dat niet zo bijzonder meer.
Toch valt deze CD wel degelijk op. Er wordt zeer strak gespeeld, zonder
onnodige egotrips. Er is veel muzikale variatie en de band laat horen voldoende
lef te hebben gehad om ook gekke uitstapjes te durven maken. Al met een al een
zeer goed besluit om het album alsnog op de markt te brengen. Nu nog een echt
reunieconcert.

Eigentlich wurde dieses Album
bereits 1993 aufgenommen, aber das damalige Label der Band hat dieses feine
Scheibchen leider nie veröffentlicht. Eine Schande, denn "De-Grunged"
bietet alles, was Fans von SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, METALLICA, DRI oder BEOWULF
glücklich machen dürfte. DISTURBING FORESIGHTS existierten von 1989 bis 1996
und waren eine der ersten niederländischen Gruppen, die Punk, Hardcore und
Metal kombinierten, wobei man sich vom Metal lediglich das Trash-Tempo geborgt
hat. Hieß damals Skatecore. Live spielte die Combo mit YOUTH BRIGADE und MDC
und machte Crossover lange bevor dieser unerträglich wurde. Inhaltlich bietet
man mehr als momentane Bands, da man über Genmanipulation, Umweltverschmutung
und andere wichtige Themen sang. Für eine gute Produktion sorgte Pieter Kloos,
der bereits PETER PAN SPEEDROCK, ANARCRUST und MOTORPSYCHO zum richtigen Klang
verhalf. Man muss auch wirklich ganz deutlich sagen, dass dies keine unnötige
Veröffentlichung aus übertriebener Nostalgie ist, sondern, dass die 13 Tracks
wirklich ohne Einschränkung überzeugen.

Deity Down Records från Nederländerna skickade skivan De Grunged
med det tyska punkrock bandet Disturbing foresights. Jag vet inte riktigt vad
jag ska tycka igentligen. Musiken är lika tung som heavymetal, men sången är
jobbigt ylande och svävar ibland fritt från musiken och det känns som om jag
lyssnar på två olika band samtidigt.
Som att lyssna på nån gammal Metallica demo, fast med en
skyhög Ozzy på sång. Musiken är bra, och det är den som får mig att lyssna
vidare, men sången är bland det tråkigaste jag hört.
Deity Down Records släpper till stor del musik mer åt
deathmetal hållet, så jag fattar inte riktigt vad Disturbing foresights gör
där. Bland feta deathband som Vermin, Devious, Hatred och Anmod kommer då
Disturbing foresights och rasar hela bilden. 12 låtar och 41 minuters plåga, ja
ungefär så ser jag på De Grunged.

Disturbing foresights, and their new CD De Grunged is some kind of mix of
punkrock and metal. It´s punk, and I should like this, but I realy can´t stand
the singing. The music is okey, realy good, but I just hate the singing. Deity
Down Records is more into deathmetal, and I can´t understand Deity Down signed
Disturbing foresights. De Grunged is a 12 track CD with a great layout, so it´s
a pity that the music is rather bad.

“Compleet overbodig en een typisch
gevalletje zelfoverschatting om als middelmatig bandje iets uit te gaan brengen
wat je 15 jaar geleden hebt opgenomen! En dan ook nog eens als band niet meer
bestaan? Alsof er niet genoeg rotzooi op de markt is!”, zei ik toen ik de plaat
in handen kreeg (misschien wat meer vloeken en scheldwoorden erbij), maar na
inspectie denk ik dat ik iets moet nuanceren en toegeven dat het geen pure
verspilling van tijd, geld en moeite is geweest. Toch zul je verder weinig
geschreven loftrompetten terugvinden in mijn review.
Ik kende de band eigenlijk alleen
van naam en als ik zo de typische 90s crossover hoor (ondanks het eigen
smoelwerk) begrijp ik waarom dit zo is. Ik hoor wat Heideroosjes, Brotherhood
Foundation, Biohazard en H2o terug, maar door de variatie is het lastig om er
niet nog 10 te kiezen. Sommige mensen vinden dat prachtig. Sommige mensen
houden ook van een schop in hun kloten. Ik scoor een 'nee' in beide
categorieën.
Ik ben zelf dan ook niet bijzonder
treurig dat dit soort mix van punk, hardcore, metal en hip hop grotendeels
verdwenen is uit het straatbeeld. Voor het volk dat huilend in zijn nest ligt
te masturberen bij de gedachte aan die ouderwetsche crossover-sound zal dit een
prima plaatje zijn, maar ondanks alle nostalgie houd ik het droog bij de ogen
én in de broek. Ik trok het gros van dat soort bands altijd al slecht en nu
niet veel beter ondanks dat ik toch moet toevoegen dat Disturbing Foresights
helemaal niet slecht klinkt. Daarnaast vind ik het toch wel tof voor (en van)
die gasten dat ze eindelijk toch dit kreng op de markt hebben gekregen. En ze sprokkelen
ook nog wat extra puntjes in de sympathie-categorie gezien het feit dat ze
De-Grunged door dezelfde producer als 15 jaar geleden hebben laten rechtrekken.
Ook trek ik de titel, die ik interpreteer als iets anti-grunge, bijzonder goed.
Al met al, voor het genre, zeker niet ver onder de grijze middenmoot ondanks
dat de vreselijk nare vocalen daarbij geen positieve rol bij spelen.
Als alle partijen er tevreden mee
zijn zal het mij verder worst wezen, maar relevant is deze schijf natuurlijk
niet. Irritant ook niet echt dus, ach...

Het Nederlandse Disturbing Foresights
zette hoog in door Pidah Kloos te vragen als producer voor deze CD. Disturbing
Foresights doet het meest denken aan de begintijd van de crossover-golf uit
Amerika. Als aanleiding heeft dit kwartet goed geluisterd naar Prong, 7 Seconds
en Excel, en dat maakt de band af
met verwijzingen naar Limbo Maniacs, Mordred, Scatterbrain, Sweaty Nipples, en
de humor van een Les Claypool. Holle studio-geluiden met een ouderwetse
hardcore-twist. Als je moet wennen aan het gegeven dat het allemaal wat
houterig aandoet, skip dan naar 'N.P.M.' waarin precies wordt uitgelegd welke
technieken er schuilgaan achter Disturbing Foresights. Helaas moeten we
constateren dat het schijfje er nog wel is gekomen, maar de band alweer ter
ziele is.

Metal mit Punk verknüpft haben. Sagen sie. Ob sie URBAN DANCE SQUAD und deren
Chef Patrik Tilon (Inzwischen als Sänger bei CLUB OF HIGH EYEBROWS unterwegs)
kennen? Hier hätten wir möglicherweise eine konträre Meinung, aber so richtig
wichtig ist das auch nicht.
Eigentlich wurde ”De-Grunged“
1993, also vor 15 Jahren aufgenommen und ist sowohl hinsichtlich des Titels als
auch der dahinter verborgenen Musik als musikalischer Gegenschlag gegen den
damals das harte Musikgewerbe dominierenden Grunge zu verstehen. Leider wurde
dieser gut gemeinte und entgrungete Crossover-Hieb gegen die traurigen,
Strickpulli tragenden Kummerkrähen aus Seattle und Umgebung nie ausgeführt,
denn als DISTURBING FORESIGHTS die Aufnahmen zu ihrem Debütalbum beendet
hatten, machte das damalige Label der vier Pleite und ihre Platte lag auf Eis.
Bis heute.
Obwohl ”De-Grunged“ mit ”Work It
Out“ sehr melodisch beginnt ist dies nicht die Richtung, die das Quartett
weiter verfolgt. Es folgen verschiedene Stilmixereien, die heute schöne
Erinnerungen an die erste Crossoverwelle wecken. Ich denke an RAGE AGAINST THE
MACHINE, CLAWFINGER, SHIT FOR BRAINS und die erwähnten URBAN DANCE SQUAD. Und
DEF LEPPARD. Die passen zwar nicht in die Reihe aber die mochte ich damals
auch. Ansonsten fallen noch ein gleichermaßen überflüssiges wie auch im
Crossover eher untypisches Instrumental (”Instrume(n)tal“) sowie das
lustig-rock'n'rollige Saufliedchen ”Going To The Pub“ auf.
Heutzutage klingt ”De-Grunged“
irgendwie komisch, was zum einen an der eher dünnen Produktion liegt, zum
anderen an der beschriebenen Musik. Nostalgiker wie ich haben Spaß an dieser
Platte, für jüngere Hörer dürfte das Album eher anekdotischen Wert besitzen.
Schade eigentlich. Damals, in den frühen 1990ern tourten DISTURBING FORESIGHTS
intensiv in Deutschland, Dänemark, Spanien, den Beneluxländern und sogar
Tschechien. Heute tun sie das nicht mehr, nur Sänger Iwan und und Schlagzeuger
Cor sind noch im Musikgeschäft aktiv. Auch schade. Vielleicht können die
anderen beiden sich ja noch mal aufraffen.

Hoe ga je om met de volgende gegevens:
de opnames zijn uit 1993, dus sterk verouderd. Maar, dit materiaal is nooit
eerder op cd verschenen. Dus het is wel degelijk een nieuwe plaat. Ach, wat
maakt het uit, gewoon recenseren. Je kunt horen dat het om oude opnames gaat.
Dat komt vooral door de iets te iele productie, waardoor de gitaren niet vet
genoeg klinken. Aan de andere kant heeft het ook zijn charme. De songs zijn erg
leuk, vol vuur en met redelijk wat humor onder het oppervlak. Tekstueel af en
toe wat kinderlijk, maar ook dat past wel bij de vele stijlen die deze heren
door elkaar gooien. Het is crossover zoals die begin jaren 90 gemaakt werd, met
hardcore, punkrock, metal en een klein beetje groove door elkaar. Denk maar aan
Mucky Pup, alleen dan minder uitgesproken humoristisch. Kort gezegd: dit is
leuk, maar ik zou dit dolgraag horen met een hedendaagse productie. Dan zou dit
pas écht rocken!

Se non avete ben chiaro il
concetto di “contaminazione sonora” vi consiglio vivamente di ascoltare il
disco dei Disturbing Foresights, un curioso crossover tra punk, rock, giunge
(che la fa da padrone), e forse un’altra mezza dozzina di altri generi affini.
Proprio questo č De-Grunged, lavoro della formazione olandese che in modo
diretto, e schietto ci fa rivivere un po’ di sonoritā sporche, grezze e
arrabbiate vecchio stile. Tecnicamente č un ottimo lavoro, ben suonato, ben
cantato e soprattutto ben mixato. Si riconosce dalla scelta del sound, che il
lavoro č stato fatto da professionisti. Tuttavia l’album, seppure si presenti
bene anche dal punto di vista grafico, con un booklet bello folto e grafiche
accattivanti, soffre della solita “malattia” che contraddistingue un po’ tutto
il panorama “Grunge” mondiale… mi riferisco a quella sensazione di monotonia
che si percepisce durante tutto l’ascolto del disco. Tutte le 12 tracce
sembrano un po’ stampate con lo stesso clichč e durante l’ascolto, spesso, non
ci si accorge che si č passati al brano successivo se non per il piccolo
silenzio di due secondi che separano le tracce sul CD. Per concludere: non si
puō riempire un contenitore con tutti oggetti uguali e sperare che alla gente
piaccia.

Dieses Quartett zählte zu Beginn
der 90er Jahre mit zu den umtriebigsten Bands in ihrer Heimat und brachte es in
jener Zeit auf unzählige Gigs im In- und Ausland, aber auch auf einige
Veröffentlichungen. Allerdings meinte es das Schicksal nicht wirklich gut mit
DISTURBING FORESIGHTS, weshalb der Truppe der Durchbruch auch verwehrt
geblieben ist. "De-Grunged" stammt nämlich ursprünglich aus dem Jahr
1993 und hätte damals auch über GAP Records veröffentlicht werden sollen, doch
da jenes Label das Zeitliche segnete, ehe die Scheibe in Umlauf gebracht werden
konnte, blieb das Teil in den Archiven und die Band verschwand mehr oder
weniger unauffällig von der Bildfläche.
Da die zu jener Zeit bei
DISTURBING FORESIGHTS aktiven Musiker Iwan (Gesang), Koen (Bass), Cor
(Schlagzeug) und Bas (Gitarre) aber nun einen Deal bei Deity Down Records
unterschrieben haben, darf sich der Interessent nun endlich an
"De-Grunged" erfreuen. Ob diese Zusammenarbeit lediglich auf vorliegende
Veröffentlichung beschränkt blieben wird, will offensichtlich weder die Band
noch das Label verraten, so dass man also gespannt der Dinge harren darf.
Soundtechnisch wurde die Chose jedenfalls überarbeitet und auch neu abgemischt,
so dass der Sound recht zeitgemäß aus den Boxen ballert.
Auf die Musik selbst hatte das
logischerweise aber keinerlei Einfluss, so dass DISTURBING FORESIGHTS im Jahre
2008 für Crossover in traditioneller Machart stehen. Hardcore, Metal in
heftiger und zum Großteil recht hurtig gespielter Machart, sowie Punk in
klassischer Version bildeten die Eckpfeiler des Gesamtklangbildes der
Niederländer, die auf "De-Grunged" ein Feuerwerk im Stile von einst
großer Formationen in diesem Genre entzünden. Mitunter kommen einem Legenden
wie D.R.I. in den Sinn, auch wenn diese wohl noch etwas aggressiver in ihrer
Vorgangsweise waren, während man hinsichtlich der schwer unterhaltsamen, aber
dennoch keineswegs stupiden lyrischen Ergüssen durchaus auch DOG EAT DOG als
Vergleich heranziehen kann, da die Niederländer auch immer wieder in die Nähe
von deren Kreuzüber-Kompositionen gelangt sind.
Auch wenn derlei Klänge heutzutage
nicht mehr wirklich zeitgemäß sein dürften und es demnach wohl schwer sein
wird, den Nachwuchs für diese Band zu begeistern, ist "De-Grunged"
keinesfalls ein Album ausschließlich für Nostalgiker geworden, sondern viel
mehr ein essentielles Tondokument einer Zeit ihrer Existenz leider nie im
verdienten Ausmaß beachteten Formation.

Tanto di onore, rispetto e
cappello a questi quattro ragazzotti che dal 1989 al 1996 portarono alta la
bandiera dell'hardcore melodico nella scena europea, segnando delle tappe
particolarmente importanti sia dal fronte live che in quello discografico. I
Disturbing Foresights annoverano in complessivo tredici lavori in studio, di
cui dieci risalenti al periodo della loro piena attivitā e tre postumi. L'album
di cui mi accingo a parlarvi avrebbe dovuto vedere la luce nel lontano 1993,
perō, per problemi causati dall'allora etichetta (GAP Rec. ndr), l'uscita fu
irrimediabilmente compromessa.
Tuttavia, come si dice, meglio
tardi che mai; sono passati ben quindici anni ma il sound spacca duro comunque.
L'hardcore dei D.F č un vero mix di vari modi d'intendere il concetto di
"hardcore"; oggi si parla dell'hardcore, per fare un esempio nel
senso pių grezzo del termine con band tipo i Born Again, o i celebri Agnostic
Front o Sick of it all oppure nell'accezione pių melodica con i Millencolin, i
Nofx e The Offspring. Ecco: i D.F hanno fuso, al loro tempo, tutti questi
"punti di vista", creando un proprio sound energico e difficilmente
scontato. Forti sono anche gli accenni al metal old school, ma, tagliando
corto, conviene parlarvi brano per brano di questo importante lavoro.
Apre le danze "Work it
out" e sono convinto che qualche purista dell'hardcore potrebbe avviarsi
al cesso pių vicino per rendere alle fogne il proprio pranzo. Ma non saltiamo a
conclusioni azzardate: "Work it out" si presenta come un brano
particolarmente orecchiabile, soprattutto per la presenza di un intro molto
rappato e un ritornello da hardcore melodico che si ficcherebbe nella testa di
chiunque.
Ma passiamo oltre; con
"Brainless Brian" il tono si fa pių incazzato con tanto di parti in
palm-mute e ritmiche molto sferzanti, tanto che in alcuni punti verrebbe da
pensare ai grandi S.O.D. "Positive" č un vero tributo all'hardcore
pių puro: velocitā e cattiveria per non lasciare respiro al povero ascoltatore.
Con "Shadow" cambiamo decisamente ambientazione e ci trasferiamo su
sonoritā molto pių rocciose e cadenzate che nel ritornello assumono una
distinta melodia.
"Genepharm" inizia con
un tocco quasi prog! ma poi si rientra nei canoni tradizionali, con un riffage
molto lineare seguito da un ritornello che prende gli spunti cadenzati di
"Shadow". E' in assoluto uno dei brani pių particolari dell'album,
ricco di spunti musicali molto interessanti. "Going to pub": titolo
al quanto allusivo, per un pezzo di rock'n'roll lineare, stradaiolo (quasi
un'allusione al pių celebre "Going to Brasil" dei Motorhead")
proposto con una verve pienamente punk.
Immancabile lo strumentale, che
personalmente ritengo il mio brano preferito e uno dei migliori dell'album:
"NPM" raccoglie il meglio delle idee della band e si presenta molto
pių "metal" che non "hardcore". Molto rilassato cadenzato,
variegato, con dei passaggi in alcuni punti quasi death metal e un arpeggio
davvero notevole per qualitā ed spirito evocativo. Massiccio e granitico č uno
delle perle dell'album. "Robin Hood", non brilla particolarmente
rispetto al resto. Dotato di un ritmo cavalcante, ridondante e melodico non
aggiunge nč sottrae niente a quanto detto.
"This 1's 4 U" risveglia
decisamente i toni su ambienti pių thrashcore con conseguente aumento della
velocitā e con un inciso monolitico e devastante. "Perfect World"
mantiene inalterato lo stile thrashcore senza particolari novitā rispetto al
resto.
Con "Chemical Century"
approdiamo nel pieno dell'hardcore melodico e qui il pezzo si fa troppo stanco
e scontato. Decisamente un angolo morto del lavoro. L'album si chiude con
"Lonely" e ritorniamo su sonoritā molto pių decise, con un senso
della melodia molto meno scontato. Un pezzo pienamente hardcore con qualche punta
di thrash.
Avviandomi alla conclusione, dopo
questa puntigliosa descrizione brano per brano, mi sento in dovere di
consigliare questo album a chi č abbastanza conoscitore del genere, insomma, a
parte qualche magagna, questo album č roba da intenditori; roba di nicchia e
per tanto masticabile a pieno titolo da chi č amante del genere al 100% e che
presenti una conoscenza anche degli stili che hanno gravitato attorno
all'hardcore di matrice 80/90. Un grande grazie all'olandese Deity Down Records
per essersi interessata alla diffusione di questo lavoro seminale che, ricordo,
nonostante la freschezza e la buona qualitā di registrazione risale a ben
quindici anni fa.

Dalle informazioni disponibili che
ho ricevuto insieme al dischetto in questione, vengo a conoscenza che questo
album dal titolo De-Grunged, ci arriva dall’ormai lontano anno 1993, e, non
essendo mai stato pubblicato, ben quindici anni dopo viene recuperato dal
produttore originario Pieter Kloos (Beef, Motorpsycho) riportato in studio,
quindi rimasterizzato e spedito sugli scaffali dei negozi, cercando di dare
alla band, oramai sciolta, nuova linfa vitale. Il gruppo di cui stiamo parlando
arriva dalla Germania, si chiama Disturbing Foresights e all’epoca era
considerata una delle band fondamentali del movimento punk/hardcore di quegli
anni, essendo stata una delle prime, ad aver saputo miscelare le sonoritā metal
e hardcore con una consistente attitudine punk, ed č forse proprio questo il
motivo per il quale viene data cosė tanta importanza a questa uscita. I suoni
sono stati ripuliti cosė come la resa sonora dell’intero disco, anche se il
sound č quello tipico di una hardcore band di quegli anni, quindi non ci
aspettiamo assolutamente suoni compressi e moderni, ma le classiche sonoritā di
band come ‘M.O.D.’, ‘D.R.I.’ e qualcosa dei ‘Nuclear Assault’.
I dodici brani presenti su questo
album spaziano da un classico hardcore (‘Robin Hood’, ‘Perfect World’) a brani
pių melodici e punkeggianti (‘Positive’, ‘Going To The Pub’), fino a delle
composizioni thrashcore (‘Shadow’), mantenendo sempre le coordinate principali
ben salde, che sono la velocitā e l’aggressivitā di esecuzione, e in alcuni
casi, vengono proposti dei brani pių crossover/funky oriented (‘Work It Out’),
quasi a voler fare da spartiacque con il movimento musicale successivo al loro,
ed ovvero a quel genere musicale che dall’inizio degli anni 90 si modificō in
crossover. Anche i testi sono classici di quell’ondata hardcore, in particolare
vengono messi a fuoco temi sociali e politici che tanto facevano scalpore
all’epoca e che, onestamente, dopo oltre quindici anni, sembrano essere ancora
attuali…
Non c’č nessuna traccia che
colpisce in particolare, ma quasi tutto il disco scorre via abbastanza
allegramente, andando a risvegliare quella voglia di riscoprire tutti quei
classici degli anni ‘80 e inizio ‘90 che hanno fatto la storia di questo
genere, e quindi consigliandolo non solo ai vecchi amanti dell’ hardcore/punk
di quegli anni, ma anche a chi volesse scoprire per la prima volta quelle
sonoritā, per tutti gli altri, un’uscita da poter sorvolare.

Holandská postpunková sebranka
DISTURBING FORESIGHTS vznikla již v roce 1989, tudíž to nejsou žádní nováčci na
thrash/hardcore scéně. Ale bohužel nemají na svém kontě žádnou dlouhohrající
desku, jen nějaké to demo, splitko, spoustu EP a best of alba. Pojďme se tedy
podívat na jejich poslední počin s názvem „De-Grunged“.
Velmi by mě zajímalo, proč měli
mezi posledními nahrávkami pauzu téměř třináct let, neboť mini cd s názvem
„Come On Baby“ vyšlo již v roce 1995. Viděl bych to v podstatě na vstání z
mrtvũch a jak tedy znějí po tolika letech? Pomalinku upouštějí z thrashe a
dávají více prostoru modernějším směrům, především pak crossoveru a postpunku.
Hned v první skladbě „Work In Out“ to na nás pěkně rozbalí. Zpěv mi malinko
připomíná hlas vynikajícího zpěváka Kärtsy Hatakka z Waltari. Samozřejmostí
jsou líbezné kytarové vyhrávky, do kterũch nádherně zapadají hiphopové vokální
polohy. Je vidět, že zpěvák je pěkně upovídanũ, ale v tomto stylu je to jedině
vũhoda. Pořád mi to ale něco připomíná, že by mix Stuck Mojo a Biohazard? Třetí
skladba „Positive“ je punk pěkně od podlahy, takovũ v moderním znění a na mě až
moc sladkũ, chybí mi zde malinko drsnosti jako např. u The Exploited. Myslím,
že pánové neví, kterũm hudebním směrem se mají vydat. V šestém postpunkovém
songu „Going To The Pub“ je zajímavě umístěnũ klasickũ rokenrollovũ riff na
basu. Čím blíž se dostáváme ke konci CD, tím více je hudba říznutá do
postpunku. Po hudební stránce ale vũborně zvládnuté, jen mi přijde, že spousta
riffů je pěkně obšlehnutá a vykradená od jinũch interpretů.
A co závěrem? Zvuk dobrũ, vokální
projevy zvládnuté také na vũbornou, já bych uvítal jen trochu více originality.
Bohužel těchto kapel je strašná spousta a já si vybírám rozhodně jen ty
nejkvalitnější.

Een album dat postuum wordt
uitgebracht is altijd een wat vreemde gewaarwording, zelfs als de artiest in
kwestie niet letterlijk maar figuurlijk dood is. Dit oorspronkelijk in 1993
ogenomen materiaal is echter nooit eerder uitgebracht en ondanks het feit dat
de band al jaren niet meer actief is, heeft Deity Down Records het nu toch
aangedurfd om de cd op de markt te brengen.
In haar bestaan van 1989 to 1996
heeft Disturbing Foresights (DF) vooral veel gespeeld, in een behoorlijk deel
van Europa en met aansprekende namen als Osdorp Posse, Brutal Obscenity, NRA en
het vroege Orphanage. Het viertal was een van de eerste crossover-acts van
Nederland die punk, hardcore, rock en metal samen liet smelten. Invloeden van
Faith No More en Suicidal Tendencies zijn dan ook duidelijk te horen. De
teksten zijn kritisch en vaak erg donker, terwijl de muziek juist springerig en
soms zelfs funky of jazzy is. De band ging daarmee in tegen opkomende
speed-metalgroepen als Metallica en Megadeth, en zette zich ook af tegen de melancholie
en het drama van bijvoorbeeld Pearl Jam en Nirvana.
DF was in 1993 een van de eerste
bands die de toen nog jonge Excess-studio in Rotterdam betrad. Waar het nu
vooral Hans Pieters is die bij het grote publiek bekend staat als de
topproducer, zat destijds Pieter Kloos (Peter Pan Speedrock, Motorpsycho)
achter de knoppen. Zeker in vergelijking met de gemiddelde productie uit die
tijd is 'De-Grunged' uitstekend verzorgd. Het geluid is erg helder, vooral de
drums klinken uitstekend.
DF maakt verder haar biografie
helemaal waar: een grote muzikale diversiteit met hier en daar erg interessante
momenten: ‘Robin Hood’, de instrume(n)tal ‘N.P.M. (hier wel Metallica!) en het
intro van ‘Going To The Pub’. De combinatie met de goede attitude rechtvaardigt
deze uitgave dan ook zeker. Het is vooral jammer dat de band nooit verder is
gegaan, want er had zeker meer uit kunnen komen. Misschien ooit tot ziens?

First off, a little back-story on
this record. Originally recorded in 1993, the Netherlands' Disturbing
Foresights' De-Grunged was caught up in record label limbo until it was
released fifteen years later. The album itself starts off with beat boxing,
which is a little strange to hear, but when the music starts, the band starts
to impress with its slightly heavy sound. The only problem with "Work It
Out" is the constant beatboxing in the background, which is just annoying.
Other than that, the song is really strong.
Unfortunately, the same can't be
said for the rest of the record. Songs like "Positive" and
"Shadow" come off as sub-par hardcore with metallic tendencies that
just don't do anything to enliven the listener. The only other songs that
sparked anything were the riff in "Going to the Pub" and the very
interesting instrumental, "N.P.M.," which comes together very nicely,
but unfortunately it's not enough to sustain a whole album.
Near the end, the record starts to
pick up a bit, with tracks like "This 1's 4 U," which has some good
vocals courtesy of Iwan, and "Perfect World," which makes me think of
the Guttermouth song of the same name...it's a good memory.
Overall, it seems that the story
of the record's long road to being released is much more fascinating than the
record itself. The band disbanded in 1996 and they have largely been seen as a
footnote in the music of the Netherlands. The final song on this album, "Lonely,"
tries really hard to be strong and powerful but it ultimately sounds like
everything else on the record, which is a shame. While listening to this record
does take the listener back in time, it just doesn't seem to hold up very well
over fifteen years later.

Heeft de metaalmoeheid definitief
toegeslagen, of heeft een bijzonder creatieve labelmanager zijn slag geslagen?
Ik heb er in ieder geval geen verklaring voor dat men nu komt met nooit
uitgebracht werk van een band die in 1996 is opgeheven. Toegegeven het is niet
zomaar een bandje, het gaat om Disturbing Foresights, een van de beste
cross-over bands die in Nederland heeft rond gewandeld. Het album De-Grunged
werd in 1993 opgenomen, maar nooit uitgebracht. Dan blijft dus de vraag actueel
waarom het in 2008 nu dus opeens wel goed genoeg is om op cd uit te brengen.
Disturbing Foresights werd in 1989
opgericht en is uit Rotterdam afkomstig. Ze spelen punk/metal/hardcore/crossover.
De band werd in binnen- en buitenland bekend door de energieke live-act. De
band kende talloze wisselingen in de samenstelling en werd uiteindelijk in 1996
opgeheven. Er werden enkele EP's en demo's uitgebracht en er verschenen nummers
van de band op diverse compilaties. In 1993 nam men in de welbekende Excess
studio in Rotterdam het album De-Grunged op, samen met producer Pieter Kloos.
Dit album werd echter nooit uitgebracht. Het was Kloos zelf die de plaat
herontdekte en remasterde in 2008. Een aantal voormalige leden van de band
tekenden alsnog de allereerste platendeal en de cd wordt nu dus uitgebracht
door Deity Down Records.
Voor zulk bijna antiek materiaal
klinkt het werk van Disturbing Foresights ongelofelijk actueel. Het ziet er
naar uit dat Kloos gelijk heeft gekregen en dat de vraag waarom dit in 2008
wordt uitgebracht zichzelf heeft beantwoord. De club kan zo de bühne weer op en
doorgaan waar men destijds ophield. Dit klinkt nu al beter en vooral
gevarieerder dan veel van de bands die nu in hetzelfde gebied actief zijn.
Muzikaal heeft men heel wat in de mars en er wordt gespeeld met diverse stijlen
en invloeden. Het rauwe karakter van de punk en de kracht van metal sneeuwen
een beetje onder, hebben plaats moeten maken voor funk, groove en rap-achtige
zang, maar steken gelukkig toch nog bij regelmaat de kop op. Het levert dus
gevarieerd, krachtig en tekstueel sterke nummers op, die behoorlijk van elkaar
verschillen maar toch een geheel vormen. Een prettig en uitermate luisterbaar
geheel dus.
De positief kritische teksten
waren al het sterke punt van de band, maar blijken ook nog steeds grotendeels
actueel en bovendien is de productie uitstekend in orde. De-Grunged blijkt nog
steeds een spannend stuk muziek op te leveren anno 2008 en mag gehoord worden.
Zeker de hardcore liefhebbers onder ons kunnen hun hart ophalen, maar ook menig
rock en metal liefhebber zal zich met deze "nieuwe" cd van Disturbing

dit. Geen metaalmoeheid of creatieve manager dus, wel een soort van motie van
wantrouwen tegen de huidige muziekwereld, die dit werk nog niet weet te
evenaren of overtreffen. Gaan ze nu weer bij elkaar komen? Zwaaien de deuren
van de muzikale seniorenflat open en wordt men weer actief? We gaan het zien,
of niet. "To be or not to be, that's the question", om maar met de
quote van een bekend schrijver te eindigen.

It's been 15 years that De-Grunged
has been recorded, nevertheless, due to certain circumstances (record date
label GAP Records screwed up), the album has never been able to see the light
of day at time. A deal was finally signed with Dutch record label Deity Down
Records and out in late March 2008. De-Grunged is a compromise between melodic
hardcore and punk attitude with a little dose of crossover. About inspiration,
I would name a few references to bands like Youth Brigade for the rage and
energy of punk rock, Beastie Boys for its elements of hip-hop and Faith No More
for its eclecticism.
I definitely am not enthralled by
the lyrical content. In fact, they relate to the basic things what could happen
in someone's life and heard a ton of times: drug stuff, drinking stories, world
vision, loneliness etc. "Going to the Pub" is one typical song
dedicated to hard-partying. Make you have some fun, imbibe booze with friends
until late at night. For those who are interested in a concept CD with various
styles, you may pick up that one.
Well-know for their energetic live
performances, Disturbing Foresights performed several times away from home, in
Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and other countries. During these
years of activity, the line-up has changed many times. Since then, Iwan and Cor
- respectively singer and drummer - are still active in Rock'n'Roll and
involved with their bands. Koen (bass) and Bas (guitars) are both retired.

This is Deity Down Records’ first
non-metal release, and it was recorded back in 1993, but never released. I
don’t understand why they felt the need to release this, though, as it’s not
really any good.
Ok, there’s a hint of metal here,
since it’s sort of a hardcore/thrash crossover album. Hardcore in the vein of
Black Flag, punk rock in the vein of Dead Kennedys, and Going to the pub is a
showcase of Oi!. For the first few tracks there’s even some seriously annoying
hip hop-vibes as well. At times I even think of the first Beastie Boys record.
You know, the hardcorepunk one, before they turned into hip hop. And the end
result of all these mixed genres reminds me a lot of The Rollins Band.
But no matter the sort of
intricate riffing and rocking drumming it’s just too widespread. All these
genres are unfortunately never linked together, making the album flow smoothly,
but rather changing from track to track. Making it sound more like a
compilation CD. It’s also extremely melodic, too melodic for me at times. Sure,
I don’t mind almost pure punk rock like Chemical century, and Positive is an
absolutely killer aggressive crossover track. But it’s all just too weird for
me.

Aprčs de nombreuses demos et
apparitions sur splits et compilations, Disturbing Foresights sort enfin son
premier album, comme un recueil de ses presque dix années de labeur. En effet,
ce groupe allemand n'est pas tout jeune, depuis 1989 il écume les routes avec
sa musique.
Disturbing Foresights ne peut pas
vraiment ętre associé ā un style particulier, car ils mélangent tellement de
genres, allant du punk old school au métal, avec du heavy et de la fusion
dedans.
Véritable bombe d'énergie, "
De Grunged " regroupe une décennie de son, oų tous les courants son avec
l'esprit et la hargne du punk. Pur Crossover, Disturbing Foresights travers
ainsi les âges et donne au plus grand nombre un éventail de ce qui s'est fait
en matičre de hardcore, métal et punk.
Un album qui ravira l'ensemble de
la scčne donc, mais particuličrement les anciens, qui retrouveront leurs plus
belles années de débauche dans " De Grunged ". Quand au plus jeunes,
ils pourront ainsi avoir une certaines visions de toute la diversité de
l'époque et des mélanges improbables qui ont fait naître les scčnes actuelles.

Fy fan vilket jävla dynga! Nåt
soppigt crossoverband från Tyskland som var aktiva i början & mitten av
90-talet. Dom är inte värda en etta i betyg ens. Allt med det här är fan
värdelöst. Sången är pissig och med loppigt uttal, musiken är någon slags crossover
mellan Clawfinger och Charta 77 och nåt risigt oiband plus valfritt dansband
eller nåt. Plattan skulle egentligen ha kommit ut 93-94 men det sket sig med
deras dåvarande bolag enligt presspappret. Kan det möjligtvis vara så att det
bolaget insåg att inte en käft kommer orka lyssna på det här? Den ena låten är
sämre än den andra och tillslut är jag bara fylld av hat mot talanglösa tyskar
och dito skivbolagsfolk. Och att de har mage att nämna punk i sammanhanget är
ju bara löjeväckande. Värsta skiten på länge. Gillar du helt flippad rådålig
tysk crossover så kan du komma förbi redaktionen och hämta den här jävla
skitskivan. Men skynda dig, nästa gång jag ser den åker den ut genom fönstret.

Je n’ai jamais eu l’occasion de
savoir si j’avais un don pour les éloges funčbres, peut ętre est il temps
d’essayer. DISTURBING FORESIGHTS est un groupe batave né en 1989 et mort de sa
belle mort en 1996, aprčs de nombreux changements de line-up, qui, selon la
démo, n’ont fait que renforcer l’unité et la cohésion du groupe. En 1993, le
groupe enregistra un album, De-Grunged, qui malheureusement fut flingué par la
maison de disque et resta dans les cartons.
15 ans aprčs, me voilā face ā un
CD qui aurait du sortir il y a de nombreuses années, et je dois admettre que la
tâche n’est pas simple. Dois-je juger le produit selon les critčres de
l’époque, ou bien rester objectif et le placer dans une actualité
discographique? Quelque soit le choix, le résultat reste le męme, puisque les
qualités du produit en question n’ont rien ā voir avec le temps, et si l’on ne
m’avait pas prévenu sur la bio, j’aurais pu croire que la date de sortie était
2008.
Pour en revenir au plus important,
le style pratiqué oscille entre un Hard-Core light et un Rap-Metal timoré, le
Crossover final ā donc des airs de SCATTERBRAIN dilué dans du SCAT OPERA, avec
de petits relents d’AGNOSTIC FRONT du week-end. Les textes sont bien sur assez
politisés voire sociaux, et restent intéressants ā lire. Le son est assez
bizarre, les guitares rudes, la batterie et la basse correctes, mais le chant
trčs linéaire et assez agaįant ā la longue. Les compos se suivent et se
ressemblent assez, mis ā part Ģ Work It Out ģ, atypique et fruitée, et Ģ
Positive ģ, furieuse et débridée.
Le reste se partage entre des mid
tempo parfois accrocheurs (Ģ Perfect World ģ), et des morceaux plus lourds, aux
ambiances pesantes (Ģ Shadow ģ). Les breaks sont bien exécutés et inventifs,
mais l’ensemble n’est pas des plus séduisants, la faute au chant qui manque de
mordant, et ā une musique qui reste quand męme ā des années lumičres de ce qui
s’est fait de mieux dans le genre. R.I.P. dira le passant. Et je n’irai pas
user une dose de virus T pour les ramener ā la vie…

This is an eclectic mess of
alternative, grunge, metal, and various punk genres. They even delve into
rap-rock (barf).
A couple of songs are more
hardcore/punk, and not bad - "Going to the Pub" is a standard
shout-along oi/punk tune but is better than most of the album.
"Positive" is actually pretty good with high-tuned snappy drums and
fuzzy guitars that bring to mind 7 Seconds and even (can't believe I'm saying
this) "Officer/I Got No"-style Operation Ivy. But, hey, even a broken
clock is right twice a day.
In a way, it's good that a band
tries different things, but this album sounds directionless and pandering.

Als je hun biografie leest op
MySpace dan merk je dat het Utrechtse Disturbing Foresights een uitzonderlijk
lange weg heeft afgelegd om hun debuut ‘De-Grunged’ op schijf te persen. Zo
lang zelfs dat de groep er ondertussen al de brui aan heeft gegeven en deze
plaat postuum werd uitgebracht. Disturbing Foresights laat zich genregewijs
niet gemakkelijk in een hokje steken en ‘De-Grunged’ is een cocktail van
hardcore, punk en hier en daar wat scheuten metal geworden. Het geheel klinkt
echter onsamenhangend en niet zo bijster goed geproducet. Wel een pluspuntje
voor sommige teksten, die van weldoordachte maatschappijkritiek getuigen, zoals
op “Genepharm” en “Positive”.

Disturbing Foresights is er
vijftien jaar na de opnames van deze cd eindelijk in geslaagd om deze cd ook
daadwerkelijk uitgebracht te krijgen. Door een aantal zaken heeft deze cd
vijftien jaar op de planken gelegen en dat is toch zonde. De band heeft een
typische vroeg jaren ’90 hardcore sound. Muzikaal staat dit heden ten dage nog
als een huis! Dit is typisch een cd die bij een breed publiek aan gaat slaan of
die enkel zijn weg weet te vinden naar de ouderen onder ons. Muzikaal en
tekstueel is dit nog even relevant als vijftien jaar geleden dus ik hoop dat
Disturbing Foresights alsnog de aandacht krijgt die ze verdienen. Aan de
geboden kwaliteit zal het in ieder geval niet liggen!

Det här med skivbolagstrubbel kan
ta sig rätt absurda uttryck. Ta en titt på den här historien: Mellan åren
1989-1996 fanns ett holländskt band, som hette Disturbing Foresights. Bandet
spelade en blandning mellan punk, hardcore och thrash metal. En till synes
udda, men ändå rätt så intressant kombination ska tilläggas.
För femton år sen, alltså 1993,
gick bandet in i studio och spelade in en skiva, med titeln
"De-Grunged". Skivbolag fanns bakom och allt var (trodde bandet)
färdigt för ett skivsläpp. Nu ville dock ödet annorlunda. Bolaget fick aldrig
ut skivan och inspelningarna las till handlingarna. Tillbaka till nutid.
Bandets inspelningar återupptäcktes av Deity Down, som skrev kontrakt,
remastrade låtarna och släppte skivan.
Soundet känns naturligtvis lite
daterat. Jag har en känsla att detta är en skiva som passar oss gamla rävar
bättre, än tonåringar idag. Inte desto mindre är lägstanivån hög (dessvärre är
högstanivån dock inte jättehög heller, det hade lyft skivan). Stilen är, som
nämnts, punkrock med thrash metalbas. Eller om det är tvärtom, jag vet faktiskt
inte riktigt. Hursomhelst, en skiva som är värd sitt namn. Fast kanske mer som
nostalgipryl än något annat.

Misschien wel de merkwaardigste
release die ik onder mijn neus heb gehad, is De-Grunged van Disturbing
Foresights. Deze Haagse band bestaat al jaren niet meer, en het product dat
voor me ligt is een cd uit 1993 die destijds nooit het daglicht heeft gezien.
Destijds slaagde een platenmaatschappij erin de zaken zo te verknoeien dat dit
werk uiteindelijk op de plank bleef liggen. Deity Down Records heeft het op
zich genomen om de opnamen alsnog uit te brengen. Terecht, want wat de band
hier laat horen is zeker de moeite waard.
De funkmetalhardcorerap is wel
typisch iets uit de jaren negentig, maar nog steeds erg prettig om te
beluisteren. Een deel zit dicht bij Nederlandse acts uit die tijd als Gotcha!
en La Lupa, maar het grootste deel doet denken aan Ice-T's Bodycount. Zoals ik
al zei, typisch jaren negentig. Razend origineel is het allemaal niet, het
genre is inmiddels op sterven na dood, maar destijds zou dit beslist geen
slecht figuur geslagen hebben. Deze release is dan ook veel te laat, maar nog
steeds volstrekt gerechtvaardigd.

Gruppo senza un'identitā ancora
ben precisa e piuttosto sbilanciati strumentalmente, i Disturbing Foresights ci
si presentano con un album che spaesa fortemente l'ascoltatore.In un miscuglio
senza capo nč coda di crossover, hardcore, e metal molto affine ai riff di Iron
Maiden e Judas Priest, ci ritroviamo con composizioni senza peso e spessore.
Voce in molte occasioni non ben evidenziata in sede di produzione, sembra si
trovi in fondo alla stanza; chitarre cercano di intrecciarsi e di sfuriarsi in
stop n'go, in realtā non trovano quasi mai una linearitā interna alla canzone.
Lyrics abbastanza scontate tra scuola, droga e una che mi ha riportato ai tempi
"penso positivo" (positive), mi portano allo sgotto definitivo e
finale, se non fosse che qua e lā sparse per tutto l'LP ci si puō imbattere in
piccole perle incazzate di Hardcore veloce e bello pompato.Brainless Brian,
Shadow, Perfect World sono discreti pezzi di hardcore moderno e in your face in cui le difficoltā tecniche scompaiano di fronte alla
maggior necessitā di immediatezza e sporcizia sonora.
che dire, questi Disturbed
Foresights dovrebbero scegliere bene la direzione della propria musica, un
melange cosė eterogeneo e acerbo non ammette un altro sbaglio.

Quella degli olandesi Disturbing
Foresights č una storia che va avanti da ormai quasi 20 anni: era infatti il
1989 quando i nostri pubblicarono il demo-tape autoprodotto ‘Struggle To
Speak’, iniziando cosė un’avventura che porterā la band ad esibirsi sui palchi
di mezza Europa in compagnia di alcuni mostri sacri del punk (M.D.C., Youth
Brigade, etc.). Nonostante il discreto successo conseguito in patria, la band
non ha mai pubblicato un full-lenght ufficiale durante la sua attivitā
(esauritasi nel 1996), a causa di una serie di vicissitudini legate alla
stabilitā della formazione. Questo ‘De-Grunged’ risale al 1993 e doveva essere
il disco d’esordio del gruppo, ma non fu mai pubblicato per problemi con la
loro label di allora (la GAP Records); ci ha allora pensato la Deity Down
Records, 15 anni dopo, a rendere giustizia alle fatiche dei Disturbing
Foresights, decidendo di pubblicare in versione ri-masterizzata questo
sfortunato esordio.
Il sound dei Disturbing Foresights
č davvero curioso, contenendo in sé influenze che spaziano con una certa
facilitā dal metal al punk, dando luogo ad un meltin’ pot musicale molto
particolare e di certo poco orecchiabile per i puristi di entrambi i generi.
Ciō non toglie che la loro proposta musicale, benché ostica, talvolta riesca a
colpire nel segno: ne sono un esempio brani come ”This 1’s 4 U” o ”Chemical
Century” che, pur non risultando particolarmente accattivanti, riescono
comunque a regalare qualche emozione. Tuttavia un disco del genere non puō
essere esente da una bocciatura, ancorché non totale: troppa la confusione che
permea tutto il lavoro di questi quattro ragazzi olandesi, incapaci di dare una
coerenza e un’identitā al loro sound. Mi sentirei di consigliarlo solo agli
amanti del crossover e delle contaminazioni musicali; tutti gli altri č meglio
che si tengano alla larga, se non vogliono rischiare di incappare in una
delusione. L’ennesima prova che non basta mischiare diversi generi musicali per
ottenere un buon prodotto.

Disturbing Foresights was a Dutch punk band, and one of
the first to manage to mix metal/hardcore music with punk when they started
back in 1989, so expect a 'hard' kind of punk music.The tracks on this album
was originally recorded back in '93, 3 years before the band disolved.But due
to some label issues it didn't get released until 2008, 15 years after the
recordings took place.
I had never heard of this band when I got the CD in the
mail, and so therefore I found the ''human beatbox'' in the beginning of the
first song quite disturbing and I didn't know what to expect, I eventually
found the rest of the song to be quite good, it's just that I would have
preferred it if the beatbox in the background wasn't there, it sort of ruins
the first impression and the image I get of the band, because the rest of the
album does not feature anything like that.
The album picks up later on in the record with personal,
exciting favourites of mine, such as ''Shadow'', ''Going to the Pub'',
''Perfect World'' and ''Lonely''. All the songs are professionally recorded and
the instruments and vocals all sound very good, Iwan's vocals sound especially
good on ''This 1's 4 U''.
It seems as if the album tries to be more ''varied'', if I
may call it that, than it really is, because really, the songs are pretty
similar to one another. Now don't get me wrong, this is a good thing if you
like this kind of sound, (it does have a certain kind of sound to it) if you're
into metal, or the heavier sort of punk music this record is definitely worth
checking out. Taking everything from this album into consideration, I
personally must admit that I do like it and hope you will too.

DISTURBING FORESIGHTS is a Dutch
crossover band from The Hague and Utrecht which existed from 1989 to 1996.
Originally "De-Grunged" was already recorded in 1993, but
posthumously this album is recently released on Deity Down Records. The album
was completely re-mastered by Pieter Kloos at The Void studio in Eindhoven. The
line-up of the band is Iwan V. (vocals), Bas de N. (guitars), Koentje B. (bass
& backing vocals) and Cor H. (drums & backing vocals). This album has
12 tracks and to me not all of them are very strong songs. On a few songs DS
reminds me a little bit to DE HEIDEROOSJES ("Positive" and
"Chemical Century"). It all just sounds nice and that's all. The few
songs I like on this album are "Positive", "This 1's 4 U",
"Perfect World" and "Chemical Century". All with all, to me
Disturbing Foresights is just an average Dutch crossover band.

Diese holländischen Hardcore/
Punk/ Metal-Brüder gab es von 1989-1996. Das vorliegende Album wurde 1993
aufgenommen, aber wegen damaligen Label-Fuck-Ups nie rausgebracht. Hätte auch
damals niemanden groß geschockt und weshalb das Teil jetzt 15 Jahre später doch
noch zu CD-Ehren kommt, ist mal wieder schleierhaft. Zumal die Band nach wie
vor nicht existiert.
Flotte Tracks wie das kurze
"Positive" oder "Genepharm" sind schon recht cool, aber der
große Rest haut einen nicht vom Sockel. Nette Scheibe und gut gezockt, mehr
nicht. Kein Wunder, dass dies in 7 Jahren Bandgeschichte neben EPs und
Samplerbeiträgen die einzige LP gewesen wäre. Braucht auch heutzutage außer den
Freunden der Band niemand wirklich.

Also ehrlich mal, mit so einem
scheußlichen Cover macht man wohl niemanden auf sich aufmerksam. So ein Ding
würde ich im Plattenladen meines Vertrauens nie und nimmer anrühren. Was
eigentlich schade ist, denn das Album ist eine posthume Veröffentlichung. Die
Band existiert seit 1996 nicht mehr und das Album wurde im Jahre 1993
aufgenommen. Man hätte also 15 Jahre Zeit gehabt um an einem ordentlichen
Artwork zu arbeiten.
Musikalisch wird hier ja
vielseitiges geboten: pfeilschneller Hardcore-Punk steht neben BLACK
FLAG-geschwängertem 80er Hardcore, Rockstampfern im Stile MOTÖRHEADS und
Rock'n'Roll lastigem Punkrock wie ihn Ende der 90er die Schweden von RANDY
fabrizierten. Dem aber nicht genug verbraten die Holländer im intsrumentalen
„N.PM(instrume(n)tal)“ - wie das gewagte Wortspiel im Titel schon vermuten
lässt- diverse Metalriffs. Im darauffolgenden „Robin Hood“ wird dann dem zu
dieser Zeit als der heißeste Scheiß geltende Crossover gewürdigt. Sprich die
vier Herren aus dem Land der Tulpen wilderten sich in den Jahren ihres
Bestehens durch die damals angesagten Musikstile. Manchmal kann eine
musikalische Zeitreise ja interessant sein, aber bei dieser Veröffentlichung
wundert es eigentlich nicht warum es die Band seit Mitte der 90er nicht mehr
gibt. Im Jahr 2008 mehr als überflüssig.

Holländska Disturbing Foresight
spelade in denna platta 1993 men skivbolagsstrul gjorde att den aldrig
släpptes. Av okänd anledning är det nu dags att servera världen hårdrock med
punkig känsla och en del hiphop-influenser.
Textmässigt tas det upp relevanta
ämnen som genetik, positivt tänkande, miljöförstöring och kapitalism men
musikaliskt blir det sällan bättre än okej. Den charm sing-a-long-vänliga
streetpunkande Going to the pub besitter speglar inte riktigt av sig till resterande
spår men bidrar till en, om än svag, trea i betyg.

Vonnegut könyv, mely a kezembe jutott: alig lehettem 14 éves, mikor első ízben
estem áldozatául a többnyire Kilgore Trout kalandjaira épülő fantáziadús és
elvont világnak, és meg kell hogy mondjam, a kezdeti sokk a többszöri olvasás
hatására nemhogy leülepedett, de mķdszeresen kezelésbe is vette az addigi
világképem; legyen szķ akár vallásrķl, akár toleranciárķl, a szemek felnyíltak,
az agyi neuronáramlás pedig újult erővel indulhatott meg a racionalitás
talaján. Az eredeti történet a szabad akarat problémakörét öleli fel, miszerint
2001. február 13-án az idő képzeletbeli hanglemezén megakad a gramofon tűje,
így kedvenc szargolyķnknak újra át kell élnie egy tíz éves intervallumot,
melyben a tragédiák éppúgy megismétlődnek, mint a megváltķ boldogságok, s ez az
abszurd élethelyzet többek között az ember kiszolgáltatottságát kívánja
protestálni.
Ugyanezzel a kiszolgáltatottsággal
kellett szembesülnie a holland Disturbing Foresights névre hallgatķ zenekarnak
is, hiszen az 1989 és 1996 között működő formáciķ noha számtalan kisebb
volumenű kiadványt tudhat a háta mögött (következzenek a kíméletlen számok: 2
demķ, 2 best of [kérdem én, mire?], 1 split valamint 3 EP), mikor 1993 tavaszán
elérkezett volna az idő saját debütalbumuk kiadására, a korábban szerződést
kínálķ GAP Records anyagi okokra hivatkozva a lemezboltok polcai helyett
kénytelen volt a saját archívumának rekeszeibe helyezni az alábbi-, akkor még
masterizálatlan(!) hanganyagot, s ennek tényleges megjelenése 15 évet váratott
magára. Ennek következtében a 12 nķtát magába foglalķ dalcsokor hallatán is egy
mķdszeres Időomláson eshetünk át, elvégre a De-Grunged néven napvilágot látķ
posztumusz kiadvány mind hangszerelésében-, mind megszķlalásában a '80-as évek
végi-, '90-es évek eleji crossover hangzás mellett emeli fel zászlaját.
Hőseink számtalan műfaj elemeit
(beatbox és hiphop elemek; oi/punk tekerések; hardcore és crossover thrash)
kívánják felhasználni a biztos siker érdekében, és 15 évvel ezelőtt tényleg
nagyot robbanthattak volna az alábbi koronggal Eurķpa szerte, de a XXI. század
hajnalán megfelelő breakdown-mennyiség híján még a prķbálásnak sincs értelme,
nemhogy a lemezkiadásnak. A nem mellesleg undorítķ külcsínnel megáldott,
hozzávetőleg egy garázsdemķ szintjén megszķlalķ hanghordozķ legnagyobb hatásait
a Faith No More, a Beastie Boys, valamint a D.R.I. képében nevezhetnénk meg,
noha a fent említett (mondanom sem kell, mára legendaként tisztelt) bandák
nyomába sem érhet az itt hallhatķ felvétel, az áthallás-értékű lenyomatok pedig
közvetlenül jelennek meg, mindenféle árnyaltság nélkül. Bas De N. gitártémái
mérnöki precizitással idomulnak a műfaj sémáihoz, legyen szķ akár hardcore
cséplésről, akár szélvész thrash riffelésről: egyéniségről csúfolás szintjén
sem lehetne említést tenni, noha eget rengető hibákrķl sem szķlhat a fáma -
leszámítva Iwan V. helyenként idegtépő énektémáit -, mert a De-Grunged a maga
mķdján, a maga szintjén, a maga földrajzi elhelyezkedésében és a maga idejében
egy abszolút korrekt kiadvány, de napjainkban nemhogy helytállna, de a versenyt
sem veheti fel korunk trendjeivel és zenehallgatķ kultúrájával. Mindazonáltal
az olyan nķták, mint a D.R.I. ízű dühkitörés Positive - mely még a Municipal
Waste-nek is jķl állna -, a himnuszértékű oi/punk sláger Going To The Pub,
valamint a szintén punkos, ám kevés rap betéttel is megtoldott Chemical Century
még okozhatnak a maguk mķdján kellemes pillanatokat, de mint arra eddig
számtalanszor utaltam, hőseink ezzel kicsit elkéstek.
Ugyanakkor azt nem értem, hogyha a
srácoknak volt annyi energiájuk 15 év után, hogy megkevertessék az alábbi
nķtákat, akkor mi tartotta vissza őket attķl, hogy megpiszkálják azokat...?
Mert ha elsőre úgy is tűnne - a Presidents Of The USA után szabadon - hogy már
ennyivel is lehetne a Sziget nagyszínpadán húzni a talpalávalķt, azért a
minimális önellenőrzés igényességéről nem kéne megfeledkezni. Sajnálom a
Disturbing Foresights legénységét, mert ez a posztumusz lemez inkább avanzsálja
a bandát a nagyközönség szemében a gúny új céltáblájává - pláne ilyen
körítéssel -, mintsem hogy kordokumentumként kezelhessük a De-Grungedet.

Nem tudom a holland Disturbing
Foresights neve kinek, mit mond így elsőre, de éppen azon fáradozok, hogy
besorolhassuk őket valahová… Egész komoly múltra tekintenek vissza, hiszen
89-ben alakultak Hagueban. Gyakorlatilag a 95-ös Come On Baby kislemeze után
feloszlottak, de rengeteg mente-monda terjeng rķluk és létezésükről a
világhálķn. Műfajilag az old school thrash metal adott náluk randevút a
crossover és hardcore elemeknek, némi punk behatásokkal vegyítve az egykori
90’-es évek masszáját. Valķjában kritikánk tárgya az egyetlen nagylemezük, s
ezt is 15 év csúszással adták ki, a beszédes című és fotķkollázs pop-art
szürreális külsőségekkel megáldott De-Grungedet, ezt leszámítva a holland
srácok számlájára írhatķ egy valag tagváltás mellett két best of, 3 kislemez és
egy demķ és split…
Nagyjábķl úgy tűntek el a
süllyesztőben, ahogy meg is érkeztek a felszínre, az egyetlen dolog, amit nem
értek, hogy a Deity Down Records miért keverte újra és adta ki végül, ennyi idő
elteltével, egy olyan csapat soha meg nem jelent korongját, mely se nem ismert,
se nem divatos, se nem kultikus. Szürke és átlag, amiben a korának lenyomatai
jķl érzékelhetőek, a zeneiség pedig pofon egyszerű témákkal rukkol elő. Bár a
jelenben divat a retro és a régi sulis csapatok visszatérései, vagy csak
újrakiadások és adaptáciķk tömkelege, de ettől még mindig értetlenül állok a
De-Grunged előtt.
40 perc crossover dekoltázs a
Black Flag és a Dead Kennedys OI fertőzte punk retusálása után, a thrash elemek
elsősorban ott vehetőek észre, hogy néhol egész nyakatekert riffek kerekednek
ki, a kķrusok erősen HC ízeket préselnek, a pattogķ dallamos hatások, pedig a
már említett egykori önpusztítķ punk mozgalmak árnyékát színezik újra. Olvastam
olyan észrevételt, miszerint erősen The Rollins Band érzéseket tápláltak egyes
illetőkben, nos ez nincs kizárva, hiszen Henry Rollins hatások már a Black Flag
miatt is felmerülnek, de a Disturbing Foresights sokkal felszínesebb berkeket
mozgat meg, s ennyivel a Faith No More vagy az M.O.D. - D.R.I. sem kizárhatķ,
de rájuk se hasonlít igazábķl. Főleg hogy néhol már korai Beastie Boys-os
hip-hop részek is előkerülnek. Mindennek volna valķs értelme, ha nem most,
hanem a maga korában adják ki, ám a jelenben semmi létezésre ítélt ereje sincs
a De-Grungednek, viszont mindenképpen érdekes anyag…
…de annyi érdekfeszítő korong
terem kérve, s kéretlenül is, a kiadķk pedig ontják a hibridebbnél is hibridebb
genetikai műfajcsodákat, vagy a trend "hit-hű" babérjait, vagy a
divat ellenesség megint csak kifizetődő propagandáját, ám ettől még a
Disturbing Foresights egykori legénysége sem boldogabb, sem ismertebb, sem
szomorúbb nem lesz. Azért így a végére, mégis csak megítélek egy korrekt
pontszámot, s merem ajánlani annak, aki nem zárkķzik el olyan stílusok
egyvelegétől, mint a punk, HC, thrash metal, hip-hop, rock’n’roll.

Gute Güte, wer hat denn hier den
DeLorien angeworfen? 15 Jahre geht es nämlich zurück, ins Jahr 1993. Die
Niederländer DISTURBING FORESIGHTS standen Anfang-Mitte der Neunziger für
Crossover in seiner klassischten Form, will heissen: Punk/Hardcore/Metal gemischt
mit gerappten Vocals brachte damals die Käsköppe zum Hüpfen.
Leider ging das damalige Label
pleite, und die hier vorliegende Scheibe "De-Grunged" kam nie in die
Läden und verwehrte somit der Band die Chance auf den Durchbruch. Warum man 15
Jahre später ein musikalisch schon lange überholtes Produkt noch einmal
veröffentlichen muss? Keine Ahnung. Schauen wir doch mal, ob die Jungs mit den
Grossen der Szene überhaupt hätten mithalten können.
Die Human-Beat-Box zu Beginn der
Scheibe bei "Work it out" treibt mir dann erst mal ein breites
Grinsen ins Gesicht - sowas habe ich seit BLACK EYED BLONDE nicht mehr gehört,
und das ist auch schon über 10 Jahre her. Aber das musikalisch dargebotene ist
halt wirklich schon angestaubt und kann man lediglich als Relikt der damaligen
Kreuzüber-Explosion nennen. Die dünne Produktion und der ziemlich
unspektakuläre Gesang macht "De-Grunged" dabei auch nicht wirklich
besser. Klar ist da schon ein wenig Potential dagewesen, "Positive"
beispielsweise kloppt schön auf die HC-Glocke, das punk´n´rollige "Going
to the Pub" macht Laune, "This 1´s 4 U" (argh, dieser Titel!)
ist fast Metal pur, aber im Großen und Ganzen bleibt nicht viel hängen.
Ich wage zu behaupten, daß
DISTURBING FORESIGHTS in der großen Crossover-Welle zwar mitgeschwommen wären,
aber nie eine tragende Rolle gespielt hätten. Und so bleibt die Frage, warum
man solch ein durchschnittliches Album unter Kostenaufwand wieder veröffentlicht
- in Zeiten, wo die Nachfrage nach dieser Art von Musik gen Null strebt.

Aprčs 15 ans d'attente meublés de
splits et de démos, Disturbing Foresights réussi enfin ā sortir son album de
1993, remasterisé, avec ZE artwork et ZE promo. Et bien laissez moi casser le
suspens, c'est incroyablement raté. Episodique, éphémčre, anonyme, ce disque
dégage une indifférence redoutable par son manque total de musicalité, et le
son est malheureusement complčtement en décalage avec les morceaux. Les
guitares sont plates comme l'encéphalogramme de Lorie, la basse s'emmerde, et
le chant est plus que poussif, crié/chanté avec approximation et apathie. La
batterie quant ā elle, démotivée, lisse, molle et détachée, rivalise
d'inadéquations et d'ennui. (l'instrumental N.P.M.: enchaînement chabada,
roulements de caisse claire, Lars Ulrich, un régal) Pour les compos on sait pas
trop, quelques facéties rythmiques saugrenues justifient probablement
l'appellation "crossover" (pour la période), mais dans l'ensemble on
se coltine les sempiternels plans mid-tempo trop lourds pour ętre punk, trop
légers pour ętre hardcore (metal FM du week-end ā la rigueur). Les riffs
s'enchaînent tristement, on n'a aucun souvenir du précédent et aucune envie
d'entendre la suite. L'intermčde rockabilly "Going To The Pub"
illustre parfaitement la cavité béante ou se trouve normalement le feeling.
"De-Grunged" est une réalisation indécise ā la croisée de styles
naissant ā l'époque, oų les modestes bribes de spontanéité sont bousillées par
un son passe-partout; un grain de sable dans le désert du métal que je vous
invite ā souffler nonchalamment comme moi, et qui j'en suis convaincu n'aurait
pas rencontré beaucoup plus de succčs en 93.

When I stuck this into the player
and someone doing a human beat box came on I thought what the fuck?!..but
thankfully the music soon kicked in and it's pretty damn good, bit hard to
describe, but good! There's so many different influences in there and each song
is so individual that it's hard to describe but for the most part it's a
crossover style Metal, Hardcore and good ol' Punk..and though not every track
worked for me, the vast majority did and I enjoyed listening to it. Not bad at
all.

Von 1989 bis 1996 widmeten sich
die Niederländer DISTURBING FORESIGHTS dem Crossover, also einer Mischung aus
Punk, Hardcore und Thrash Metal mit gerapptem Gesang. Zwar absolvierte das
Quartet einige Auftritte quer durch Europa, aber der Bekanntheitsgrad war nicht
allzu hoch. Das mag aber auch da dran gelegen haben, dass kurz vor der
Veröffentlichung ihres ersten Albums „De-Grunged“ ihr damaliges Label Pleite
gemacht hat und die Scheibe bisher noch nicht veröffentlicht worden ist.
Mit Deity Down Records haben
DISTURBING FORESIGHTS nun 15 Jahre nach der Aufnahme von „De-Grunged“ jemanden
gefunden, der das Album veröffentlicht. Die Gründe dafür bleiben aber im
verborgenden, denn wenn sich schon damals niemand für die Band interessiert
hat, wieso sollte es im Jahr 2008 anders sein?
Reichlich unspektakulär und
drucklos poltern die zwölf Lieder aus den Lautsprechern und dem Rezensenten
fällt nicht ein Grund ein, warum man sich die CD zulegen sollte, es sei denn
man kommt aus dem Freundeskreis der Band. Wer unbedingt Crossover von Anfang
der 90er braucht, der sollte sein Geld lieber in die innovativen und
langlebigen Bands wie DOG EAT DOG, CLAWFINGER oder SUCH A SURGE investieren.

Deity Down Records sent me a CD
that I first had a hard time wrapping my head around, but after a couple of
listens it's easier to get an idea.
To get attached to a certain genre
or style is probably Disturbing Foresights' worst nightmare as their CD
"De-grunged" very much is all over the place musically. What starts
off with a beat box vs. drums thing and later passed through grunge vs. hip-hop
territory finally ends up in hardcore and metal crossover land. You should
however probably expect some of the 80's crossover bands' later material and
not their early influential stuff if you're looking for comparisons. If that
even as they suddenly throw you off course with street punk influences in
another track.

First impressions are damn
important. You can never overestimate the effect that a bad beginning might
have on our opinion of the end product. Really, the first seconds of an album
are as important as the hooks, the choruses and the closing two songs from a
twelve song recording. We are looking at the whole package here, not isolating
songs and judging them on that basis. I guess it doesn’t matter here though.
Not when we are talking about Dutch band Disturbing Foresight, whose album
De-Grunged had me wishing the first song was just an unhappy accident. A
fucking mistake that would have no repercussion on the overall sound of the
album. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Very fucking wrong. The label describes
itself as punk metal and hardcore merchants. By the time I got to the second
song “Brainless Brian” I was kind of thinking they should add the ‘nu metal’
sub-genre. Or the even more unfortunate ‘rap metal’.
Somewhere I read that Disturbing
Foresights’s played crossover. I know I just saw that somewhere online. But the
first two songs in this album don’t give that idea away by any means. Instead,
all we get are tepid guitars, sloppy drumming and some of the most inept
rapping/singing I’ve heard in my life. A fucking tragedy man! “Positive” does
have some of that early crossover quality, but that’s mostly because the tempo
is hectic and the vocals are almost like spoken on the same rapid fashion of
early DRI. Disturbing Foresights would have been wise to stick to that plan,
instead, they get somewhat funky with “Shadow”.
The material in this record sounds
more dated than fluorescent Bermuda shorts. Which isn’t all that surprising
when we discover that Disturbing Foresights broke up in 1996. But that’s no
excuse. Even by that horrible and
forgettable decade of nu metal standards Disturbing Foresights sounds mediocre.
If anything, De-Grunged serves as a stark reminder of those terrible times for
music that some deity willing shall hopefully never experience a revival.

De Popunie maakt haar eerste
punkspecial en van Disturbing Foresights verschijnt met 15 jaar vertraging het
album De-Grunged. Curieus, maar erg tof om helden van weleer nu pas in blakende
vorm terug te horen. Het doet denken aan Mucky Pup, D.R.I., Dog Eat Dog of ADZ
en het valt op dat ze hier weinig voor onderdoen en een sound hebben die prima
op het Bitzcore label zou hebben gepast.
Het heeft echter nooit zo mogen zijn
maar anno 2008 heeft Deity Down Records gelukkig de stoute schoenen
aangetrokken en dit Zuid-Hollandse punkpareltje eindelijk uitgebracht. Ook gaaf
om zo'n vroege Pieter 'Pidah' Kloos productie te horen die hij overigens wel
speciaal gere-mastered heeft.
Hier geen over-the-top
blastproductie zoals die momenteel in zwang is, maar een wat luchtiger 'groove'
met de vocals 'voorin', de shout-alongs erachter en ruimte voor 'n scherpe
metal-lick zo hier en daar. Ongekunstelde ninetiespunk, die nog steeds lekker
wegluistert. Wordt het geen tijd voor optredens om de jonge kids een poepie te
laten ruiken?

Het album dat nu voor mijn neus
ligt, is opgenomen in 1993. De Nederlandse band is ondertussen al even gesplit
maar Deity Down Records heeft besloten om het werk alsnog uit te brengen. Of
dat een verstandige keuze is, laat ik in het midden. De crossover van metal,
punk, hardcore en rap (zang) klinkt met momenten best wel leuk maar jammer
genoeg ook wat gedateerd, wat logisch is als het genre op zich al even onder de
zoden ligt. Door de vele verschillende stijlen klinkt het album erg gevarieerd
en dat zorgt voor enkele aangename momenten. “Going To The Pub” en “Chemical
Century” bijvoorbeeld klinken als songs van een Engelse punkband uit de jaren
zeventig gekruist met het geluid van de iets latere, Amerikaanse hardcore/punk.
Nummers als “Robin Hood”, “Work It Out” en “Brainless Brian” doen me dan een
weer een beetje aan Brotherhood Foundation denken en “Positive” heeft iets van
een kruising tussen Gang Green en Rich Kids On LSD. Het is dus niet constant
crossover dat de bovenhand neemt en er wordt flink haasje over gespeeld tussen
de verschillende stijlen maar om dit nu een goede plaat te noemen, gaat me wat
te ver. De-Grunged heeft zo zijn momenten maar komt volgens mij gewoon een
aantal jaren te laat en is, vrees ik, gewoon ook niet sterk genoeg om buiten
Nederland veel zieltjes te winnen.

Hardcore/metal/crossover var det
här, inspelat 1993! Det här bådar inte gott. Är beredd att stänga av nästan med
en gång då De-Grunged inleds med Human Beat Box, men jag tar mig samman och
fortsätter lyssna. Ärligt talat, jag kommer inte att ge den här skivan en
rättvis bedömning för jag pallar inte att lyssna igenom hela, det går inte,
crossover-låtar är på tok för långa (och dåliga). Jag tror inte ens att jag
hade orkat lyssna igenom den här dyngan 1993, än mindre nu 15 år senare. Finns
det folk som tycker sånt här är bra?! Ja, ni får ursäkta, orkade inte ens att
lyssna på halva skivan, ren och skär dynga! Bränn skiten!

Em quase vinte anos de estrada, o
Disturbing Foresights gravou um disco em 1993 e sķ em 2008 colocou-o no
mercado. “De-Grunged” demorou tanto que quase se perdeu a esperanįa de conferir
a veia artística do quarteto holandęs. Agora com um selo que realmente vale a
pena, o Deity Down Records, o grupo de punk/hard core/crossover mostra uma
animada crítica em suas músicas e aquela jovialidade que se via lá no início
dos anos 90.
De muito tempo para cá, a banda
Disturbing Foresights vinha tentando trazer “De-Grunged” aos fãs. O contrato
com a GAP Records em 1993 fez água, e desde então, o grupo depende da boa
vontade de aparecer em coletâneas ou tributos nada atrativos. Sem ter um
trabalho de referęncia, pode-se dizer que em 20 anos, o Disturbing Foresights é
uma banda nova, mas com uma roupagem moldada em anos e anos de espera.
Iwan V. nos vocais, Bas De H. nas
guitarras, Koentje B. no baixo e Cor H. na bateria gravaram lá em 1993, um
disco que cabe perfeitamente no momento em que vivemos, principalmente se justificarmos
pela leva de bandas novas do estilo que tęm aparecido. Sķ que as esperanįas
param por aí, já que pelo fato do disco aparecer no mercado apķs anos a fķrmula
parece tão distante quanto a época em que ele foi gravado. Se o esforįo dos
rapazes foi crucial na época, por que duvidar que em 2008 ele já não estaria
massante?
De novo, o Disturbing Foresights
apresenta quase nada. Vocais dobrados, algumas pitadas de energia aqui e ali e
um pouco da linha progressiva instrumental se dividem nas 12 faixas do álbum.
Músicas pouco atrativas ganham um pouco de forma até pela qualidade da gravaįão
e o trabalho artístico do encarte. Vale até lembrar que a banda praticamente
encerrou as atividades, sendo que cada integrante que participou desta gravaįão
já segue um destino diferenciado. Basta saber agora, se o lanįamento de
“De-Grunged” será uma boa estratégia para o grupo re-aparecer.

Strana storia quella degli
olandesi Disturbing Foresights. Formatisi nel lontano 1989, i quattro hanno
goduto all'inizio degli anni '90 di una certa popolaritā in madrepatria, dovuta
al fatto di essere tra i primi a proporre un'allora originale commistione di
hardcore, punk e metal: pur avendo macinato chilometri e collezionato numerose
apparizioni tra EP, split e compilation, i nostri non sono tuttavia mai
riusciti a dare alle stampe il loro album d'esordio a causa del fallimento
della loro di allora etichetta GAP Rec. Devono dunque passare molti anni prima
che tale lacuna venga finalmente colmata dalla Deity Down Records, etichetta
olandese che, dopo averlo rimasterizzato e donato di una nuova veste grafica,
riporta oggi alla luce questo "De-Grunged" a distanza di quindici
anni dalla data di pubblicazione originaria. Passando alla disamina del
contenuto sonoro del platter č evidente come la chiave di lettura per
avvicinarsi ad esso debba essere quella di collocarlo nel suo contesto
temporale di riferimento: solo cosė potrete apprezzare a fondo le varie
"Brainless Brian", "This 1's 4 U" e "Lonely",
canzoni che, nonostante l'ottimo lavoro svolto in fase di mixaggio, mostrano
comunque i segni del tempo. In definitiva tale pubblicazione postuma appare
quindi prevalentemente rivolta ai cultori ed ai completisti della scena
hardcore di quindici-venti anni fa, mentre č del tutto prescindibile per i
fruitori occasionali del genere o per i fan pių giovani ormai assuefatti dall'imperante
metalcore.

Sentite in voi pulsare il punk ma,
allo stesso tempo, non vi dispiace avvicinarvi a sonoritā pių metal o hardcore?
Non dovete scegliere! I Disturbing Foresights hanno pensato proprio a voi. Nati
nel 1989 in Olanda come punkband si sono evoluti nel corso degli anni inserendo
nel loro stile contaminazioni di diverso tipo. Dopo una serie di demo, split e
compilation eccoli tornare sulla scena con un full-lenght che mette in risalto
il loro sound: De-Grunged. Durante l'ascolto di queste 12 tracce sarete
condotti in un viaggio altalenante dove potrete trovare un ritmo punk di base
accompagnato da scatti in growl o, al contrario, riffs pesanti in stile death
dove emergono clean vocals dalle stonature mirate. A mio parere, la
sperimentazione č sempre un rischio ma...quando ci sono le premesse giuste e un
gruppo crede veramente nell'originalitā e nella passione per la propria musica
non puō che essere premiato. Per cui, punkmetallers date un ascolto a questi
olandesi e vedrete che non ve ne pentirete!

Figli della macchina del tempo
"De-Grunged" nel senso
di privato di quello che č stato il fenomeno musicale dei primi anni '90,
perché il primo full-length dei Disturbing Foresights esce oggi, ma č stato
registrato proprio nel 1993, e suona come quella parte di musica alternativa di
massa che non faceva riferimento a Seattle, ossia il crossover. Un incrocio
senza regole, questo, tra metal e hardcore, con una scanzonata attitudine punk
e una raffinatezza, di gesti e mezzi tecnici, altrettanto degna dello stile pių
scapestrato.
Il significato di
"De-Grunged", oggi, č chiaramente molto ridotto rispetto alla carica
propulsiva che avrebbe potuto iniettare nel sottosuolo dell'Olanda, paese natio
dell'opera, di quindici anni fa e, purtroppo, non rivela neanche il calibro
della scoperta archeologica. Spesso vengono in mente i S.O.D. o altri ben noti
act che hanno sperimentato la commistione tra l'attitudine hardcore-punk e la
fierezza metal, ma non ci si avvicina mai alla completezza di questi meritati
successi, neanche anticipati nel tempo, nel 1993, come a maggior ragione nel
2008.
Restano la tenacia e la
spontaneitā dei Disturbing Foresights, che affiancano uno human beat box a
ritmi oi! e applicano testi arguti ad una forma musicale indefinita e ingenua.
Ma č pių probabile che "De-Grunged" rappresenti la soddisfazione,
dopo gli EP e le disavventure che hanno coronato la scorsa decade, di portare
alla luce la propria prima opera completa. Incassando, tra l'altro, anche il
nostro sorriso di incoraggiamento, per la simpatia pių che per la rilevanza
artistica.

Per non farsi travolgere dagli
avvenimenti che costellano l'impietoso corso della vita, talvolta ci si trova a
dover accogliere con un sorriso amaro quel poco che ha da offrirci.
Ben venga, allora, sfogarsi a
denti stretti traducendo in musica le emozioni proprie di chi ha ancora energia
sufficiente a manifestare rabbia e sdegno. Cor, Iwan, Bas e Coen devono averlo
realizzato molto presto, ed č cosė che nel 1989 diedero vita ad un'esplosiva
miscela punk/hardcore suscettibile di aprirsi a contaminazioni metal alla
M.O.D. e D.R.I.. Loro il merito di essere stati fra i primi ad avere
sperimentato la copresenza di due cantanti quando pochi altri se lo sarebbero
solo immaginato, contribuendo cosė a schiudere la strada ad altri musicisti non
necessariamente pių meritevoli. Sin dalla pubblicazione del primo e unico demo
Struggle To Speak, si trovarono infatti nella situazione di dover far fronte
all'ostacolo di una formazione instabile, problema che di lė a poco li avrebbe
condotti verso l'oblio. Audaci e sfrontati, non si lasciarono perō sfuggire
l'occasione di esibirsi anche al di fuori degli stretti confini olandesi e di
pubblicare una lunga serie di ep cui si deve la diffusione – quantomeno a
livello locale - del loro nome. L'allora produttore Pieter Kloos rende adesso
omaggio ai Disturbing Foresights ponendo rimedio alla mancata pubblicazione di
un album in origine destinato alla defunta GAP-Records. Frizzante quanto basta,
DeGrunged saprā fare al caso di chi vuole tornare alle origini di uno stile ormai
scevro di creativitā.
Solo per i pių nostalgici.

Strana storia quella dei
Disturbing Foresights; il gruppo nasce in Olanda nel 1989 e conclude la propria
attivitā nel 1996, dopo aver partecipato a numerose compilation, aver registrato
un paio di demo-tape ed un EP. Nel 1993 era stato registrato il loro primo vero
CF di debutto, "De-Grunged" che sarebbe dovuto uscire per la GAP
Records, cosa questa, che sfortunatamente non sarebbe mai avvenuta. Dopo ben
quindici anni da quella mancata occasione ecco l'idea e la voglia dei quattro
storici membri dei Disturbing Foresights di dar finalmente luce e lustro a quel
tanto agognato debut CD, tramite l'appoggio e la fiducia della Deity Down
Records.
Con "Work It Out", brano
iniziale, ci troviamo di fronte ad una sorta di crossover metal, dai forti
connotati hardcore e dalle tante soluzioni funk; le sonoritā mancano di potenza
e compattezza, ma ogni singolo strumento č ben distinguibile e contribuisce non
poco alla buona riuscita del pezzo, coinvolgente, avvolgente e trascinante;
"Brainless Brian" e "Positive" proseguono sulla stessa
falsariga, mettendo in risalto le componenti pių legate ad un certo thrash,
stile Suicidal Tendencies, e taluni passaggi di estrazione punk-hardcore,
soprattutto sul terzo brano; da sottolineare il gran, buon lavoro della sezione
ritmica, precisa, martellante, incisiva e dall'ottimo groove.
"Shadow" si muove su lidi pių cadenzati, con chitarre in levare e
dalla pesantezza pių accentuata, dove l'uso del doppio cantato trova sfogo e
soddisfazione; notevole il passaggio centrale, dove fuoriesce in tutto e per
tutto l'innato spirito hardcore del combo, con partiture pių tirate e l'aumento
della velocitā. Altro brano da apprezzare, "Genepharm", con la sua ritmica
saltellante, l'incedere classico e classicheggiante e le vocals quasi
declamatorie di Iwan; un inaspettato tuffo agli inizi degli anni '90, dove
ancora tutto veniva fatto con passione, con uno spirito diverso, improntato pių
al divertimento nudo e crudo che alla ricerca assoluta del successo. Bei tempi.
"Going To The Pub"
scorre piacevolmente, riportando in auge il primitivo punk dei seminali Sex
Pistols e le forti contaminazioni dei The Clash; il balzo all'indietro si fa
qui ancora pių accentuato e profondo e la nostalgia di certe sonoritā comincia
davvero ad avvolgere il tutto.
Dopo la strumentale
"N.P.M", breve esempio di thrash metal pių evoluto e tecnico, tocca a
"Robin Hood", riportare i nostri verso sonoritā a loro pių
congeniali; strutture e sonoritā thrash fortemente contaminate da inserti
hardcore e funky; per la prima volta le chitarre acquisiscono una maggior
pesantezza e robustezza nei suoni, cosė come tutta la parte ritmica sembra
avere un maggior attacco ed una pių incisiva linearitā. Bravi. La strada appena
intrapresa continua, innalzando le sorti anche dei brani successivi, ossia
"This 1's 4 U" e Perfect World" dove in modo assoluto la
componente prettamente thrash sembra prendere il sopravvento su tutte le altre,
numerose, influenze; tanto da avvicinare le sonoritā dei Disturbing Foresight a
quelle di mostri assoluti del genere, come D.R.I e Suicidal Tendencies,
appunto. In "Chemical Century", penultimo pezzo in scaletta tornano a
farsi sentire le reminescenze punk, con la loro velocitā, la sregolatezza e
l'impetuositā di fondo; cosė come in "Lonely", brano che chiude il
tutto, dove perō alla furia punk si affiancano e prendono il sopravvento
sonoritā pių pesanti e decise, come il thrash e l'hardcore,per un pezzo che
rispecchia fedelmente le numerose influenze e reminescenze dei nostri,
mostrandone la parte pių evoluta e meno "scanzonata". Davvero
interessante e per certi versi bellissima l'idea di questi quattro ragazzi
(oramai signori) di riproporre a distanza di cosė tanti anni questo tipo di sonoritā,
che giā all'epoca non erano considerate di largo respiro, ma per pochi eletti;
solo per quelli dalle pių larghe vedute, come si diceva; bellissimo e ricco di
considerazione da parte mia il non voler lasciare qualcosa d'incompiuto ed il
cercare, cosė, di dar finalmente un senso ed il giusto fine a tutte quelle ore
passate in sala prove, alle tante difficoltā superate ed ai tanti concerti
effettuati in lungo ed in largo nel loro paese d'appartenenza con il solo scopo
di divertirsi e suonare quella musica cosė tanto amata. Davvero un bell'esempio
questi Disturbing Foresights e grande anche l'opera della Deity Down Records.

15 YEARS AFTER
Yes , its true! -Disturbing
Foresights- released an album that was recorded 15 years ago. The band from
Netherland released the album - De-Grunged - by Deity Down Records after so
many years!
The album is a mix of
Hardcore-Punk-Crossover with Alternative and Rap elements.There are some parts
where you can hear catchy ideas and experimenting(For the year of 1993) themes
like Beatbox sounds. The guitars are in a punk attitude with a lot of crossover
riffs.The bass is nice and clear and the drumming is between Punk - Hardcore
and Rap beats.The vocals are in a Punk - Crossover mood.The production is good
and very interesting because the album was recorded in 1993 and mixed in
2008.The cover is great and reminds me the feeling that usually a Ministry
album can olnly give me, showing a skeleton kid holding a big dollar.
There are many Disturbing
Foresights fans out there that will buy this album but they already know what
they are about to hear.My personal opinion is that - De-Grunged - is an album
that had to be released.Its not something fresh and doesnt represent the
present time , but its sure an easy-listening album that is made by interesting
hardcore-punkers with lot of ideas and a big punk-party spirit.
