Escutcheon (NL), Melodic Göteborg Death, 1990’s style
With Deity Down Records from 2007-Present
BIOGRAPHY:
Established in 1996, Escutcheon hails from the eastern part of The
Netherlands. The band plays Melodic yet Brutal Death Metal inspired by the
1990’s Göteborg style of bands such as At The Gates, Eucharist, Dissection and
older In Flames.
In the
early years the band spawned the “In Tranquil Chaos” (1997) and “Into Orbit”
(1998) demos. Escutcheons' first full-length album “'Unexplained Deep Space
Phenomenon”, also self-published, was released in 2001. The record was
enthusiastically received in leading magazines such as Aardschok and harvested
numerous praises online. During this period the band toured internationally
several times and played extensively with bands like Pungent Stench, Pleurisy,
Altar. Then, in 2005, all went quiet and activities seized.
In 2007
Escutcheon reformed and wrote and recorded new songs for the new album 'Battle
Order', due early 2009 in collaboration with Deity Down Records. 'Battle Order'
is more than a worthy follow-up to the debut 'UDSP' and you may find Escutcheon
playing their twist on the now seldom heard Göteborg style on a stage near you.
