On their Deity Down Records debut "Blasphemous Deliverance" Holland's Hatred is part (early) Gorefest, part (early) Vader and part Monstrosity. Taking the blunt force approach of Gorefest mixed with the no-holds-barred ethics of Vader and the technical prowess of Monstrosity "Blasphemous Deliverance" is a record that at once sounds familiar yet feels fresh due to the band's excellent ideas in what works in this genre and what doesn't. Despite playing mostly mid-paced and lacking interesting lead work Hatred is able to keep their material interesting with a good sense of dynamics and a nearly constant pumping groove. Structurally, this leans towards "False" era Gorefest with the intensity of "De Profundis" era Vader and "In Dark Purity" era Monstrosity as far as hooks and general technicality is concerned. Vocally, Hatred is a bit on the one-dimensional side and more adventurous vocal lines would be beneficial for future material. Recordings were done at Excess Studios, Rotterdam and this gives the album the expected high end production values that this genre needs. Artwork, design and lay-out are functional but not entirely visually stimulating or remarkable in any significant way. Deity Down Records has added another strong unit to their roster, although it must be noted that Hatred isn't as technically accomplished as their peers in Devious or Vermin.

Hatred speelt authentieke mid tempo death metal.

Fortunatamente i contenuti musicali si rivelano all'altezza.

Holland’s Hatred is one of the eighteen (!) via Metal Archives findable bands with the same name. I wonder why they came up with that moniker then... but who am I to nag about that, my task is to review the music!

Hatred plays an average dose of death metal that can genre-wise be described as a mix between deathrash and more malicious brutal death metal, or band-wise as a combination between the Dutch acts Legion Of The Damned and God Dethroned, but then a little less in quality. It’s not that it works out badly because the production is fine, but the music is just too common, plus the songs won’t stick in your head.

What I do like about this record are the aforementioned vicious parts that bring a lot more tension to the game. For example the blastbeats halfway ‘Christian Dogma’ as well as several other accelerations are doing well for me. Less charming are some transitions who don’t always sound that accurate. It might be caused by a possible low recording budget. I really think that there’s a lot potential in this band, but that it doesn’t come out yet.

Blasphemous Deliverance therefore remains too average for me, but I’m truly curious about what the future will bring for this band. I hope I got the chance to see them live once so I can judge them on their live compatibilities too.

Koen: Oops he did it again! Gerard de Koning of Deity Down Records obviously has a nose for talented death metal bands. Deity Down’s third release is another smack in the face to a number of recordlabels that seem to have forgotten what the underground scene is all about and only produce commercial shit. I’m not saying this because I’m personally acquainted with the man but because it’s true! ‘Blasphemous Deliverance’ is Hatred’s full-length debut album. In 2000 the band debuted with their self-titled demo, followed by a mini album in 2003 entitled ’Chaos In The Flesh’. In the meantime Hatred destroyed the stages in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France, Spain and Holland and played with Lord Belial, Vader, Grave and Suffocation.

Then things became quiet for a while but when Koen Dingemans (also in Stronghold) joined as the new vocalist / frontman in 2006, Hatred made a fresh start and signed with Deity Down Records. The CD was recorded at Excess Studio in Rotterdam (Holland) and was produced by Hans Pieters. From the opening upbeat track ‘Christian Dogma’ to the sultry title track, this CD is filled with strong song writing, well-built harmonies, anti-religious lyrics and fast paced Nineties death metal. The more you listen to this album the more you hear. It is raw, melodic, harsh and brutal. Some favourite songs of mine are ‘Religion = War’, ‘Involution’ and ‘Blessed By Possession’, but be sure to check out ‘Blasphemous Deliverance’ yourself. The entire CD is streamable here, so don’t hesitate and support the Dutch death metal scene!

Getting an "Error: disc not finalized" message on my CD-player quite dampens my initial goodwill and earns Hatred a -20% on this review by default. ...No, I'm just kidding (about the score penalty, at least). Anyway, I've probably said it before in one review or another, but Dutch (death) metal has always been to my liking. Specifically, Hatred wields the blunt style of old school death, combined with some thrash elements.

Though there's little to remark on the compositional aspect, the execution and the production, I'm missing a spark of intensity - for lack of better words. Perhaps I'm too 'brutal' oriented and not enough 'old school', but e.g. the breakdown passages sometimes tend to tear down the groove rather than adding to it. Said riffs are just too basic to really provide for a jaw-dropping effect, but can nonetheless grasp the attention (especially on a gig, I'm sure, with the heavy, crushing style), thanks to a couple of pretty good tracks (Involution, Transition, Enslaved By A Living Deity, etc). Technicality seems to be highly appraised in death metal bands lately, so a band that (largely successfully, apart from a few weak spots) takes an old school direction like Hatred does, deservedly earns some attention - what Hatred will certainly get from the fans of the (sub)genre.

Anspieltipps: Religion = War, Beholder Of Hate, Blessed By Possession, Blasphemous Deliverance.

Now this is what death metal needs to be. Mean, vicious, fast and just pure evil. This bands gets it and I get what they are playing. This is some killer death metal with tons of vicious fast parts (not that fake blast shit) and some godly death metal vocals. The vocals would make Satan proud. The production is thick and heavy and the speed parts just blew me away. There is nothing weak on this release at all and is an awesome display of death metal at its best.

Hatred is a four headed Dutch Brutal Death metal band formed in January 1999. They released their album Blasphemous Deliverance through Deity Down Records in January 2008. The Current line up of Hatred is:

Peter de Jonge

Peter van der Schraaf,

Koen Dingemans and

Rob de Waardt.

Personally I Think one of the biggest things Hatred has reached so far, was opening a show for Polish metal gods Vader in July 2004. Damn this is a good cd, I really think this is one of the best Death Metal bands that came of Dutch grounds. I'm really looking forward to see this kind of aggression live. The pounding drums, the bombastic bass, the chopping guitar riffs and the horrific Grunts, damn I already listened to this album 5 times and I’m guessing there will be a lot more times that I’ll put this one in my cd player !

Good work guys.

Le tracce migliori sono senza ombra di dubbio: "Christian Dogma", "Blessed by Possession", "Beholder Of Hate", "Enslaved By A Living Deity" e "Involution".

I'm into the Dutch metal this weekend because here we have an other death metal band from Holland named Hatred. Hatred has been started as a band in 1999 and have recorded a four track self titled demo in 2000 and a four track EP named "Chaos in the Flesh" in 2003. I'm fucking glad they are back after 5 years with a new and fresh album full with awesome old school death metal. This first full length has been released by Deity Down records, a small label that has signing some great Dutch and a Brazilian bands. Besides bands like Vermin, Devious and Anmod is Hatred also becoming a part of the Deity Down Family. Alright, if you like your death metal the old school way then Hatred is definitely a band that you got to hear.

Like many bands here in Holland Hatred has been using the Excess studio to produce and mixed this album "Blasphemous Deliverance". And I got to say that the recording sound is real close to the Youth Against Christ album (1994) from the Dutch Altar. So you don't have to worry about the production because that has been mixed very well. Hatred tempos are alternated from blast beats to slower and low-tempo death metal. Brutal and tight compositions with some kick-ass and dry death metal vocals from Koen Dingemans. So for the true old school fans I will recommend this kick-ass death metal disk from the South-West part of our small country Holland. To order a copy click HERE and you will directly enter the Deity Down records online shop!

Finally after almost 10 years of existence, the Dutch Death Metal warriors Hatred release their debut album "Blasphemous Deliverance" via Deity Down Records. Before that they had one self-titled demo and one MCD from 2003 titled "Chaos In The Flesh". "Blasphemous Deliverance" is also the first Hatred release with the new vocalist Koen Dingemans who is also growling for Stronghold.

The first thing that impressed me when I saw this album was the cover-artwork: a picture of some of the most popular religious symbols in the world today. All lyrics are against the organized religion and its servants. Speaking about the music Hatred deliver 11 pieces of aggressive oldschool Death Metal with sound that reminds me a lot of the Dutch Death Metal masters Altar. All tracks have powerful riffs and blasting drumming- just hear one of my personal favourites "Involution" and you will be convinced by my words. Koen Dingemans throws out some very good Death Metal growls in a way that every word of his lyrics can be heard clearly.

"Blasphemous Deliverance" was recorded at Rotterdam's Excess Studios and the producer Hans Pieters has achieved very good and uncompromising sound. Each one of the instruments is audible making Hatred's debut of a quality far above average. This band definitely has future if they continue playing such outrageously good Death Metal. Worth hearing!

The pretty young Dutch label Deity Down Records releases the first full length studio album by Hatred , a formation from the Netherlands that was born nine years ago (January 1999). Two self-released mini-albums, Hatred  (2000) and Chaos In The Flesh  (2003), and several superb gigs in Europe (e.g. supporting Lord Belial , Vader , Grave  and Suffocation ), created an enormous fan base, which convinced the band to continue the path they took: a path of brutal, intense and powerful Death Metal! In May last year, after a new singer joined ( Koen Dingemans  from Stronghold , by the way), Hatred  entered the famous Excess Studio  ( Thanatos , Brutus , Seth , Severe Torture , Gorefest  and many others) with Hans Pieters  in Rotterdam for the recording of their official full length debut album. The Excess Studio , indeed, that's why the sound is raw and brutal, yet full at the same time. In the vein of both former recordings, Blasphemous Deliverance brings pretty refreshing yet extremely harsh mid-tempo Death Metal with groovy and technical song structures. The firm and powerful songs are overwhelming, yet without exaggerating one single moment. And even though Hatred  do combine elements from the Dutch and American scene, this band does certainly come with an own approach, an own face. Doomy parts go well together with a few accelerations, and intensity does have the perfect marriage with technical skilling. Blasphemous Deliverance certainly is not the most renewing recording in years, yet it is a highly acceptable one! One of the best Dutch Death Metal debuts ever, that's for sure.

A crucifix is your bed.

From what we've seen thus far, Holland's Deity Down Records can apparently do no wrong. The newest band they've submitted for our approval is HATRED, a band that finally has a proper full-length debut after almost a decade of plugging away (their only other release was an EP called "Chaos in the Flesh" about five years ago). Still, for extreme metal fans, the wait has been well worth it.

The name of the game here is no-frills, no-nonsense, in your face D-flat tuned old school death metal. Folks looking for virtuoso wanking and cheesy synth pads had best look elsewhere. Those who demand religion-hating brutality, however, should feel right at home. And it won't take long either, cuz the second the opening chords of "Christian Dogma" hit, they'll find their balls in a rusty bear trap that won't let go until the final fade-out of the title track closer. What's more, these guys manage to showcase an impressive amount of flexibility during this album's 36 minute duration. Whether they're creeping with "The Beholder", thrashing with "Reflected in Dead Eyes", trying their hand at doom metal with the interlude "Transition" or pounding blast beats through your skull with "Religion = War", everything's tight and high on quality.

Well folks, it looks like the New Wave of Dutch Death Metal has yet another champion. We can only hope that we don't have to wait another five years to hear from these guys again, because fans of IMMOLATION, early EDGE OF SANITY and DECAPITATED have very good reason to show HATRED some love.

A quick look at the bands logo and track titles you’d immediately aim your sights at a satanic metal stance, probably in the death/black metal genre. Parts of that assumption were correct when I made it, but unlike the pulverising nature of bands like Vital Remains, Behemoth or Deicide, this is decidedly tame focusing on a mid paced death metal direction. The guitar sound is authentically dirty and gravel sounding with “Christian Dogma” opening the album in uneventful fashion. The blast sections feel dispassionate as though they were added for aggression sake only. “Religion=War” shows some improvement with a battle metal approach in the vein of the mighty Bolt Thrower, especially when the double bass kick is brought in. It is in these parts that the band does stand out as the riffs as simplistic but effective. A nice rasping riff enters midway and is balanced by the bass drum kick and beastly growls.

There are times when the songs seem clumsy, lacking cohesion, such as the start of “The Atheist”, though improvements are made in the body of the song. “Involution” starts much better with a catchy riff and the blast here does have some impact, but only just. Malevolent Creation’s “The Fine Art Of Murder” comes to mind regarding the guitar sound due to its caustic nature and Asphyx is a reference point on the slower more dirge like passages on “Beholder Of Hate”.

There are moments when the band pulls a riff or melody out of the bag before they quickly return to safe death territory, such as the beginning of “Enslaved By A Living Deity” or the thrashing riff of “Blessed Possession”. Overall the death metal on this CD has some good ideas with an old style approach, but the lack of innovation and creativity to make them stand out will hold them back substantially. However if some traditional old school death metal is your particular metal diet then this is a decent appetizer.

Weight, velocity and sonorous aggression in deafening levels through a sonorous structure developed with several velocity levels, weight variations and a lot of tempo changes. "Blasphemous Deliverance" is an album with excellent sonorous moments, but you won't find virtuous riffs or excessive weight, therefore everything in this album is in the right measure. “Blasphemous Deliverance" sonorous structure is constituted by simple riffs, but they are not naive riffs, therefore the riffs succession in a constant sonorous evolution presents an aggressive and furious sonority. "Blasphemous Deliverance" is an album that you listen without tiring the ears, therefore the choice of the instruments timbre, the vocal line sonority and the sonorous structure converge for an excellent moment Death Metal. The sonorous variations and the riffs succession are properly positioned in a potent sonority. The big secret of this album is the riffs sonorous logical: simple riffs very well positioned through tempo changes and excellent sonorous variations, maintaining "Blasphemous Deliverance" in constant sonorous ascension. "Blasphemous Deliverance" is not a super-fast album, but it is a fast album with velocity in several levels. Hatred puts in "Blasphemous Deliverance" influences from Traditional Death Metal adding a refined technique constituted by efficient riffs in an cataclysmal sonorous structure. The excellent recording quality and the potent  instruments timbre collaborate to create a primitive sonority and at the same time potent. "Blasphemous Deliverance" is pure Death Metal, showing all the elements of the style through compositions developed with feeling and technique. I recommend.

First things first - Hatred's Blasphemous Deliverance suffers a little bit from its powerless production, obscurely mixed guitar sounds and arrangements, particularly in the most aggressive moments, although it really sounds kind of old school Groovy death metal accompanied by thrashy elements. Koen Dingemans' vocals (also of Stronghold) are catchy, using his harsh and growled vocal skills, pretty similar to Ville Viljane (Mors Principium Est frontman) indeed. The offer combines brutal rhythmic and interesting melodies; however, I found it does lack in technicality. The title track caught my attention for its very good harmonies, tempo changes and middle eastern (Egyptian) theme, probably inspired by one of the most respectable technical death metal bands like Nile.

Alongside "Blasphemous Deliverance," I also appreciated powerful songs such as "Blessed by Possession," the anti-religion song "Religion = War," "Involution" or the album's opening "Christian Dogma" -- accessible and easily listenable without losing any energy or brutality. This is a very diverse album that should grab several listens despite the average quality production. Over the past years Hatred have performed at numerous local & foreign shows from Spain to the Czech Republic gaining a larger audience and better promotion. Hopefully the Dutch death metallers will hit the European roads once again sometime this year to show us how hard they kick ass.

After I listened to "Blasphemous Deliverance" I had the idea of reading some reviews for this album. I was really amazed when I saw that most of the online magazines (or to be more precise the people who write in them) have not exactly the same opinion I have about this band. Anyway, that is definitely something that won’t have any influence on what I believe regarding HATRED’s brand new album.

The Dutch death metallers were formed in 1999 and this is the very first time the band releases a full-length studio release! Until now, they had released only a demo CD and one EP. The EP was released in 2003, so 5 years of silence were too many for HATRED. The band went through some line up changes, its members had some personal problems and some other facts led the band to a hiatus, which they finally managed to overcome. I believe that the best answer to all those problems is a full-length album, especially when it is their debut one.

Hmmm, Holland. What else could I expect from the country that brought bands like THANATOS, SINISTER and SEVERE TORTURE to life? Traditional Dutch Death Metal! The band has managed to share the stage with bands like VADER, SUFFOCATION, GRAVE and LORD BELIAL, something that is to be taken under consideration. The fact is that all those facts should lead HATRED to the release of a more than just good debut album, but things are not as I thought they would be.

"Blasphemous Deliverance" is a nice sample of brutal Death Metal, but it is definitely not the album I expected to listen to after I saw the bands HATRED have played with, as well as the problems they have been through. The album has some weaknesses, one of them being the "disability" (although I don’t like using this word) the band has to keep the listener interested throughout the whole album. There are moments where you will probably get distracted by anything else around you and avoid staying focused on the music. The sound (product of the famous Excess Studio, which is known for its work with bands like SEVERE TORTURE and AFTER FOREVER) is just nice, although it could have been really better.

Trying to organize my thoughts on "Blasphemous Deliverance" I realize that HATRED offer some nice brutality enriched with some great melodies here and there, something that shows that the future holds some things for this band. Let’s say that this can be characterized as an average Death Metal album for today, but could be a good Death Metal album in the early 90’s. Mostly recommended to the fans that like their brutality "dusty".

Have you ever ravaged a hottie that was a great fuck, but a lousy cocksucker?  Have you ever watched your favorite team, loaded with stars, underachieve and finish the season at .500?  Undoubtedly these types of experiences lead to the long exasperated sigh.  For example: “Jennifer is a nasty whore.  She rode my cock in every position, but (long exasperated sigh leaves your lungs) she kept biting my cock, she never made eye contact, and she kept bitching about the taste of pre-cum.”  Yup, you all have had similar experiences and that fact leads us to Hatred.

‘Blasphemous Deliverance’ is a respectable full-length debut CD.  The music therein is a cross between Coalition and Altar.  This means Hatred is a modern band playing in an old school style of Death Metal that incorporates fast and mid tempos with occasional deviations into a slower pace during some tracks.  The guitar plays churning heavy strummed chromatic riffs like a bunch of severed heads bobbing in boiling oil.  Tremolo riffs are tight, moderate technicality is involved, and choppy time signatures, like the one starting at the 27-second mark of “The Atheist”, are outstanding for headbanging.  The rhythm section plays in strong cohesion with bass simultaneously performing to the guitar notes while providing thick harmony with the drums.  The vocalist has a powerful growl, but he is not too deep or pseudo-brutal.  This means most of the lyrics can be understood, which is fun for fans that like to sing.  In addition, the interplay between the vocalist and instruments can be killer with a good example being the chorus in “Christian Dogma” repeated at different tempos.

The long exasperated sigh regarding hatred is that the album is a bit too formulaic.  This means it is easy to predict tempo changes, the riffs are heavy and fun, but they are repetitive.  Harmony leads, licks, and solos are nonexistent, which is a shame for the fact that they would have given ‘Blasphemous Deliverance’ needed energy. Noticeable too is that the CD lacks attitude.  Had a feeling of gloom or nihilism been present (An unmistakable feature of old school Death Metal like God Macabre or Massacra) in ‘Blasphemous Deliverance’, the shortcomings of the album may not have been as apparent.

Hatred, like Seeking Obscure, is a band with much potential.  ‘Blasphemous Deliverance’ is a solid recording rooted in a stalwart production with a nice booklet.  As Hatred’s career advances, it will be interesting to hear their evolution, but if they do not create compositions that are more inventive with a musical ambiance conveying their lyrical ideas, they will become locked in perpetual mediocrity.

Come spesso accade, only for fans.

Além destas, registram-se: "Christian Dogma", "Religion = War", "The Atheist", "Involution", "Beholder Of Hate", "Transition [instrumental]", "Enslaved By A Living Deity" e "Blessed By Possession".

Hatred apart from the very common name that they have (if someone searches in the Internet he/she will find many bands, with the name), they have also a very mediocre production. I report this because if the production was better then we would speak for a very strong Death Metal album. The band comes from Holland and Blasphemous Deliverance is their debut album even if in the past they have released 2 Mini CD (Hatred - 2000 and Chaos In The Flesh - 2003). I began speaking about the production and I will remain in this. Everything in album is dull and it appears that they do not have the essential force that will be supposed to have as a Death Metal band. From there and beyond, if we overlook this, we see a tied up group that plays Death Metal with many Thrash elements and their strong point is the extreme outbreaks which are capable to gain any fan of Old School Death Metal. The influences from Malevolent Creation are more than obvious and in particular they emanate from first albums of the band. Apart from this, Hatred have accomplished to create their own sound, which can be framed from their influences but they have also put their own element, something very pleasant for a new band. Vocals are good enough and I don’t believe that they have something negative. We must also mention that the band has also some groove-style points, that enrich more their music. Last but not least, Blasphemous Deliverance is a very good album if we do not take into consideration the weak production. We hope that next time this sector will be more professional and everything will go well for Hatred.

Η μπάντα κατάγεται από την Ολλανδία και Blasphemous Deliverance είναι το ντεμπούτο album τους αν και στο παρελθόν έχουν κυκλοφορήσει 2 Mini CD (Hatred - 2000 και Chaos In The Flesh - 2003).

When the first three tracks on an album are called Christian dogma, Religion = war and The atheist, there’s no doubt about the band’s view on religion. And when reading their lyrics it’s evident that it’s not just bits about how cool and evil Satan is (which is the case with tons of bands), but rather thought worthy writings about taking responsibility for your own actions in life, and not just blaming, or relying on, religion. Sure, there are a few lyrics that aren’t like that, but it’s still a breath of fresh air in death metal.

‘Cause death metal is what this is, old school death, flavored with high doses of thrash. At times it’s reminiscent of some of the older Swedish bands of the genre, such as Nihilist/Entombed (for instance Enslaved by a living deity) and Dismember (Beholder of hate), but the music’s definitely been chunked up by some more modern touches. And some tracks just reek of old school thrash, such as Involution. But there’s also some parts of just slow, headbanger-friendly groove, while the main tempo is pretty fast-forward.

It’s a damn good album that I’m sure will satisfy a lot of metalheads out there. And it doesn’t hurt either that the sound is great, with a pretty thick production. What’s also cool is that Koen sometimes sound a lot like L-G Petrov did on the Left hand path album.

Blasphemous Deliverance is a bumpy experience with both ups and downs. The music is standard sounding old school death metal with many groove hints along the way. The songs are not worse than so much else, but they are not too exciting either. Hatred do have some alright song-writing skills. This the Dutchmen show on tracks like "Religion = War", "Reflected in Dead Eyes" and the titletrack, but a repeated problem on the album is that the music looses much of its momentum and that many of the songs have a tendency to fall short when it comes to captivate. The poor production is a large contributor to this, but mostly it seems that Blasphemous Deliverance would have been far better if five of the 10 songs had been shelved. There's simply too many ups and downs on Blasphemous Deliverance to make it an effort above the mundane.

Wow! HATRED…! What an original name for a Death Metal band formed in 1999! Aha! Anyway, I don’t mind about band names, I’m only here to talk about music! So, what about this “Blasphemous Deliverance”? HATRED plays 10 tracks of rather good Death Metal, unfortunately not so much original, with only some too rare good and innovative ideas here and there. An obvious Old School influence must be mentioned, and I would name early VADER and GOD DETHRONED as main similar bands. Not a so bad stuff indeed, played with a nice technical level, really honestly played but unfortunately for them, I’m almost sure that it won’t be enough to lead HATRED towards the best European Death Metal bands, or even the best bands from Holland! I was kidding with their unoriginal moniker at the beginning of the review, but to conclude it, I’d say the main and almost only problem of HATRED is the lack of originality, because everything is decently played, but I can’t imagine how a Death metal fan can be 100% enthusiastic listening to this album!!

Prost Mahlzeit…

To name your band Hatred when you're playing death metal doesn't give you the slightest chance of winning a competition for most original monicker! No less than 17 bands have chosen this name and this one hails from Holland, in case your flag knowledge is as weak as the geography level of the average american citizen (no pleonasm intended).

The band's music fits the monicker on various levels, mostly meaning and originality. Yes, don't expect the next big thing here, Hatred having opted for old-school death metal, avoiding breathtaking technique, infamous blasts or zombified ultra low grunts. "Blasphemous Deliverance" remind some old Malevolent Creation, mostly vocal-wise, offering many good parts, various rhythm changes, with the faster parts being the most exciting passages of the album. Strangely, several slow parts sound unfinished and way less convincing.

Globally, it's a relief hearing bands still into that kind of death metal and Hatred show they have the potential to represent the style on their own ground and abroad. But the 10 songs on offer don't have the same quality and a better production would probably enhance the impact.

This blasphemy simply doesn’t deliver

Not to be confused with the US/German/Polish/Italian or Swedish band of the same name (there are 17 and counting), Hatred (Netherlands) deliver a drab take on death metal that offers about as much originality as their choice of band name. I’m not simply dismissing Hatred by saying they are completely rubbish, there are a few interesting moments on Blasphemous Deliverance, just not enough of them to keep a decent level of interest from start to finish.

First up, they formed in 1999 but this recording sounds like a bunch of guys who have just started playing together. Secondly, any chance of this material standing out from countless high school bands playing the same sort of thing is aborted by the dodgy production and simply boring songwriting. The guitars are thin and have no heart or life in the chugs and riffing in general, making the lack of a solid bass sound all the more prominent. The vocals are too dry and understandable which just enhances the lyrics that read like a 15 year olds poems about Satan. Don’t get me started about the drums. OK, you twisted my arm … he has the chops, but way too often the beats and fills are as sloppy as a mud wrestler’s undies, although sometimes I can’t tell if it’s the drummer or the guitarist who is out of time. Someone was and I guess no one told them in the studio, so now it’s here for all to hear.

There were two tracks that pricked my ears; Involution with it’s galloping thrash riffs & beats, which is ruined by sloppy blasting/riffing soon after, and Reflected In Dead Eyes that again had some cool fast paced moments, but you have wait until two minutes in for that. Admittedly there were moments of interesting discordant guitar chord work and melodies, but the thin guitars and repetitive use of slow part into blasting and jolty changes destroyed all flow and enjoyment.

I don’t like bagging on bands usually but why send a disc off to the nitpicking metal world for review if you aren’t going to put in the effort to make sure a) all the instruments are in time with each other or b) it represents your band to their best ability. I don’t think Hatred is a bad band, I do think if they had taken the time to sort out the many detracting qualities on this then it might have been a better release. Being they are approaching ten years in game and on their third release (two MCD’s precede this debut full length) you would assume they might be able to see these problems before it got to my stereo. Maybe on their next release the story will be different.

Sorry Metal Forgers, maybe try another one of the many called Hatred out there. There’s got to be one good one out of seventeen … surely?

The Netherlands never fail to impress me; with such bands as Severe Torture and...well Severe Torture...this country punched the world of metal on the nose, then younger groups like Devious and the mighty Fondlecorpse noticed that people were no longer browsing through their scene only to find Within Temptation or After Forever, no way jose, people were looking for extreme stuff and brutality in the flesh...and damn I was lucky enough to find Hatred...

Now this is some catchy Death Metal, all those breakdowns and mid-paced parts that we all began to love when Dismember and Entombed were both decent bands are here waiting for some head-bang junkie to enjoy. So, catchy parts and Unleashed like riffs are maybe the most important feature in the music, but there's also plenty of brutality all along the whole album, the drumming is just impetuous and extreme the vocals are incredibly throaty and shivering, and the band as a whole makes this experience as interesting as the last Zeitgeist movie...

You'll find here goodies aplenty, even the melodic fillers sound cool, and if you're one of those music geeks you'll understand why I'm saying this...This piece is like one of those amazing underground movies, not many people really know those exist, so when you get to see a great unknown flick you actually feel special and with a bizarre sense of euphoria, this is exactly how I feel after hearing this piece, it's so good and underground that makes me want to keep it only for myself...unfortunately I'm a reviewer so that's not on my hands for the moment...

To sum things up, this album is a very good find if you're looking for entertaining Death Metal, even if you're into stuff like Power or Goth shit you'll find something interesting in here no doubt...in a shorter conclusion, this album rocks out with its cock out!

This new album from the Dutch band Hatred is available for quite a while know but apparently the postal service isn’t what it used to be, so it reached my desk just recently.

But, better late then never.

Here some blunt facts: the band released a demo (2000), a mini cd (chaos in the flesh) in 2003 and opened shows for bands as Suffocation, Vader and Grave. Nice to know, right? Unless you were at those shows or wanted to buy the previous efforts your probably are going to take that knowledge for granted.

The music that Hatred plays is far more interesting if your preference goes out to quality metal because that’s what they have to offer. From the scourging opener Christian dogma to closer Blasphemous deliverance they bring you anti Christian death metal that has at least one foot in the early 90’s. Repeatedly reminding of bands as Morbid angel, Bolt thrower and early Monstrosity. That the music is mainly mid-paced and certain vocals lines are a bit one dimensional doesn’t have to be a problem because the groove and the overall dynamic definitely make up for it. They know how to write a good song but a little more adventure on the next album could do wonders.

A compliment goes out to Hans Pieters of the excess studio whom gave this album an incredible thick sound and one for the art work which is a big improvement in comparing to the previous album.

Despite my critical remarks this is still a good album where the band can be proud off. A band who obvious knows what their doing and that stands firm in the underground.

In January 1999 the two Peters joined together and started a band. Soon followed by Rob and the three recorded their first MCD in 2000. Followed by many live shows and resulting in another MCD in 2003. Still playing live and in 2006 the band was joined by Koen on vocals. In 2007 they recorded their first full length which was released in 2008, almost 10 years after they started. On "Blasphemous Deliverance" you can hear 10 tracks in fast groovy death metal. Aggressive vocals over melodic sharp riffing guitars. But I miss some hooking leads that really shred. Tempo in the songs are ranging from catchy and groovy mid paced to ass kicking blasts. The first part of the album kicks you hard and in track "Transition" they take some gas down with an instrumental break. But after this "Enslaved By A Living Deity" continues the anti religion crusade, as you can see on the cover artwork. "Blasphemous Deliverance" is a nice death metal album that will appeal to the 90s death metal scene.

Hatred started terrorizing the metal scene in 1999 and released their first demo in 2000. They released their "Chaos in the flesh" MCD in 2003. Their latest release "Blasphemous Deliverance" by Deity Down Records (Vermin (Dutch) and Devious). This record contains ten tracks of brutal old school death metal. All the songs have a great variety in it. The guitar riffs are very 90`s and reminds of Morbid Angel and Dismember. The drums are pounding through every song like a fucking train that can't be stopped. The vocals are very stable; he has a brutal grunt but very easy listening….very nice. The composing of the songs is great, from the first song to the last not annoying or boring. The 6 the number (transition) reminds me a lot to Tiamat (Clouds). The production of this record is very good. If you like death metal of the 90`s then you're going to enjoy this album!

Another band on review from the folks at Deity Down Records is Hatred from the Netherlands.

If you were to take 'Altars of Madness' era Morbid Angel and mix it with 'Hatred' era Sinister you would have Hatred (Interestingly they share the same name as the Sinister album, ha.), except a bit more stripped down in the production. This isn’t hyper fast Death Metal, but this is definitely not too slow either. The blast beats actually have a drum sound to them instead of the usual sped up typewriter noise.  The guitars are heavy but have sludge-covered hammers of doom riffs to them. There are some moments that remind me of Dismember in certain spots, even some Unleashed., with a slight hint of Hypocrisy.

Songs range from stomp you into the ground march of death slow to fast. Vocals definitely remind me of old Sinister a lot, but not enough to be an exact clone. So far this is my favorite band on the Deity Down Records roster. I hope to hear more from this band.

Favorite tracks are: 'The Atheist', 'Enslaved By A Living Deity', and 'Beholder of Hate'.

The recent upsurge in the popularity of so-called old-school death metal could be the sole driver behind this release. Blasphemous Deliverance is a natural sounding, unforced and sincerely retrospective effort, but only one album after nearly a decade would suggest that Hatred are a laid-back bunch who may have otherwise been content to stay underground; to my ears they lack the confidence or arrogance of their peers.

I cannot help feeling that the current backlash against (lazily-labelled) "technical" death metal is a misguided rebellion seeking a return to perceived better times. But old-school classics are not classic because of the style, they are classic because of their individuality. Although fans of old Entombed/Dismember love that fizzy bassy distortion it is the thrashing dynamism and underlying morbidity that stamps the memory. Current old-school bandwagon-jumpers seem to forget that a lot of the albums they venerate were often given brutal criticism when they were new (using words like "droning", "banal" or "boring"). Skepticism should be applied equally across eras; it is the only way to attain a modicum of objectivity. The real measure of talent and strength is a willingness to deliberately choose the hardest path; to rise to a greater challenge rather than fall back into a comfort zone. Even if you have nothing new to say, there is still the challenge of distilling the quintessential essence of everything worthy that has transpired from inception to present in extreme metal (and perhaps bring in exterior influences too). Whereas their hyped-up countrymen Hail of Bullets vociferously reject all that is "technical" and cripple their mindset before they've begun, Hatred seem to be playing within their modest capabilities instead.

The primary Unleashed influence announces itself promptly. "Christian Dogma" uses slow melodic chord progressions, crunchy mutes and sliding chords to primitive effect. A little stop/start blasting precedes a minor taster of Immolation harmony. The slow Immolation theme is reprised in "Blessed by Possession", due to the two-tone harmonic interval between tremolo-picked guitars. The mood is lacking in danger but some ambience is present. The throaty vocals are minimalistic and low density but at least have high clarity. "Religion = War", "Beholder of Hate" and the title track are more blatantly Unleashed in style. Purring kick drums underpin gloomy tremolo picking for those simple icy melodies and there is the occasional injection of jagged thrash picking. A brief waft of early Cannibal Corpse drifts by during "Reflected in Dead Eyes" due to more agitated fretting.

At worst this can be sluggish, inoffensive, faceless and flabby. At best it is repetition made ambiently hypnotic by some expertly evolving drum dynamics that succeed in lifting the compositions massively. But it is not enough. Fundamentally this is unnecessary material and eminently forgettable. Die-hard Unleashed fans will probably just buy Hammer Battalion and be done with it, although I wouldn't know myself. "Our work will endure the ages" (so say the lyrics of the seventh track). No it will not, sadly, but not for want of trying.

REGENERATION OF HATE

Dutch Deathsters, - Hatred - , released their first full length album , called -Blasphemous Deliverance-. The band was formed in 1999 and has released only a Demo in the year 2000 and an EP in 2003. Five whole years of silence passed and -Hatred- are finally ready with their first official work.

The album stays in the Oldschool Death Metal area , with Death Metal Vocals , deadly rotten riffs and melodies in the guitars, distorted bass and pounding Death Metal drumming. The production is done in Rotterdam’s Excess Studios , known from past works with bands such as: Severe Torture , After Forever , and deliveres a good quality sound with Oldschool Death Metal atmosphere in it.The cover shows a wall full of powerfull symbols and its a nice artwork done by Frederique Sengers.

-Hatred- for me are a perfect band. They stay in the underground , they take it slow and the result is great.Their first full album was so late but its a mature album with a lot of experience in it.Their sound has something from Morbid Angel , Immolation , Vader , Malevolant Creation but even Slayer and Sinister! I can really wait another 5 years if they make again an album like -Blasphemous Deliverance - , but i am pretty sure that these guys are doing a new start and the next album is coming near. I am totally looking forward for the regeneration of -Hatred-.They diserve it!!
