14 December 2009: Thanatos announces new drummer.
Today Thanatos issued the
following statement:
‘Thanatos have parted ways with
drummer Yuri Rinkel, who will be concentrating on his other band Melechesh from
now on. He has been replaced by Marco de Groot (left in the picture), who's
also playing with Dutch death metal band Houwitser and who used to play in
various acts including Altar, Blind Justice and Ordo Draconis.
2010 will see the return of Thanatos
to the live front!’

Fact is that Merauder is 100% right. I’d like to grasp the opportunity to
elaborate on that truth.
Month after month there are so
many albums being released that stores wouldn’t be able to stock them all even
if they wanted to. So they make a choice. Given the tendency that CD sales
drop, stores will only stock those items of which they are sure that they won’t
end up having to put them in the ‘cheap’ bin. As a fellow music buyer, I know
this from first hand experience. Whatever it is that I want has to be ordered
in from the distributors’ warehouses most of the time.
As owner of DEITY DOWN RECORDS I
also know that, in spite of all other promotional tools that are available to
any label, bands need to be out on the road nowadays more so than ever before
in order to bring their music to the attention of the fans, simply because if
the stores can’t keep up with the enormous amount of monthly new releases, then
fans (who can only spend their money once) sure as hell can’t keep up either.
Big tours, smaller tours, club shows, they all count for any band who wants
want to attract new fans and expand its following.
So indeed, if you can’t find the
album of your desire in your local store, ask for it, DEMAND it! It’s the only
way if you don’t want to buy it online. If this truth applies to Merauder’s
latest album than it sure as hell applies to 98% of anything else that is out
there.
DEITY DOWN RECORDS’ releases are
likely among those 98%. Don’t expect them to stare you in the face from every
store’s display window. But don’t shrug and walk away thinking that they’re not
available either, because they are. Go in, ask for them and they will be
ordered in for you. Granted, if you’re living in the Himalaya mountain area, it
might take a wee bit longer than average.
03 December 2009: New signing!
Nijmegen,
Netherlands based Death outfit VICTIMIZER (http://www.myspace.com/victimizernl)
have signed to DEITY DOWN RECORDS (http://www.deitydownrecords.com). The band’s
full-length ‘Tales Of Loss And New Found Serenity’ is slated for release around
July of 2010.

In an
age where most websites are becoming fancier than fancy, we’ve decided to
revert back to ‘simple’ mode. From now on this will be it (until we change our
minds again, that is…). Some pages are still under construction, but the
general idea should be pretty clear for everyone. More news soon!
25 November 2009: Distributor change!

19 October 2009: Dark Intentions quits.
Dark
Intentions will disband. Their last show will be at Avenue in Breda,
Netherlands on Nov 15 2009. In hindsight Dark Intentions' epitaph is the 2008
album 'Destined To Burn'. The band issued the following statement today:
In
Memoriam: Dark Intentions
Many
bands are quit when leaves fall. Dark Intentions is, unfortunately, no
exception to that trend. After more than 7 years we've decided to stop. When
the right motivation is no longer there, it is time to move on. A difficult,
but necessary decision. We'll finish off in style with a small tour through
Austria and a final show in our hometown of Breda, The Netherlands, on the 15th
of November.We'd like to specially thank Gerard of Deity Down Records &
Rick of Pure and Simple Records for believing in us; Stefan van Neerven for
being an excellent producer and friend; Harald for selling merch, hauling gear
and driving us around; Thed and Gerda for providing us with a practice space
plus all too many others that helped us to play our music. Last but certainly
not least we'd like to thank everyone that appreciated our music and came out
to our shows to enjoy themselves. It's been quite a ride, thanks a lot!

08 September 2009: VERMIN finishes recording sessions.

Holland's
brutal Death Metal outfit VERMIN, consisting of RON VERMUNT (guitars, backing

'CONFUSION OF EXISTENCE' EP by MORTON BLACK, the melodic metal project
masterminded by the multi-talented youngster JOEY FERWERDA (19) from Hoorn,

10 July 2009: Italian Death Metal band MURDER THERAPY hit the
studio.

Death
Metal outfit MURDER THERAPY (Bologna, Italy, http://www.myspace.com/murdertherapy) have moved into the
16TH CELLAR STUDIO (HOUR OF PENANCE, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE) in Rome, Italy to
begin recording their full-length debut 'SYMMETRY OF DELIRIUM', slated to be
released by Netherlands-based label DEITY DOWN RECORDS later this year.
The
album, successor to the mini ‘THE THERAPY’ (self-released, 2007) will be the
first recording with a new line-up, one that moves MURDER THERAPY towards a
more violent, more modern and more schizophrenic sound. Song titles include THE
SCOURGE, EXTRA-ORDINARY MACHINE and ASYMMETRY.

28 June 2009: Review update and other news.
Finally,
some new bits and pieces in the news section. First and foremost, there has
been a massive update in the reviews section: 19 new THANATOS reviews and a new
one dealing with Dark Intentions' 'Destined To Burn' album. Out of the nearly
90 reviews we've acquired so far, only a handful describe THANATOS' 'Justified
Genocide' as a less than good album. This means that the majority of the
reviewers loves it. These numbers can't be wrong, so go to your nearest record
store and have them order the album in!! Some more news concerning other
upcoming Deity Down Records' releases...
DEVIOUS'
new work 'Vision', due in stores on August 31st is neatly on schedule. It'll be
an impossible album, in such a way that it'll top the critically acclaimed
preceding album 'Domain". Mix and mastering will be in the capable hands
of Jochem Jacobs (Textures). So keep your vision on 'Vision', trust me!
VERMIN
have completed recording the drums at Excess Studio in Rotterdam for their
second (yet untitled) album. One clearly will notice that the band has evolved
greatly since debuting with 'A Nihilistic Swarm'.
MORTON
BLACK' s project, originally scheduled to be released just about now, has been
postponed until September due to all kinds of delays.
Last but
not least: both PERSISTENSE and MURDER THERAPY will enter the studio soon to
begin recording sessions for their upcoming debut albums. We promise that it'll
turn out to be a rather hot fall. You're advised to come back from your
vacation destinations well rested. And finally, we've found a new distributor
in France. As of September Socadisc will replace our former partner Hurricane

05 June 2009: DEVIOUS reveal new album artwork.
While
Death/Thrash band DEVIOUS (Hengelo, Netherlands) still is in the studio,
graphic artist Hrodger has finished the artwork for the quintet's upcoming
full-length 'VISION'.
'VISION',
the band's third album and successor to 2007's critically acclaimed 'DOMAIN' is
scheduled to be released by DEITY DOWN RECORDS on August 31 of 2009.
The
record will feature 8 brand new tracks, among which 'RESPIRATION OF FEAR' and
'HERITAGE OF THE RECKLESS'. Some pictures taken during the recording process

DOWN RECORDS!

'CONFUSION
OF EXISTENCE', the debut EP by MORTON BLACK, a project by 19 year-old
multi-talent JOEY FERWERDA from Hoorn, Netherlands, will be released by DEITY
DOWN RECORDS around June of 2009. MORTON BLACK is a project dedicated to
creating and recording melodic metal based on the paths that were set by acts
such as AYREON and AVANTASIA. The project is studio bound primarily, but will
also make live appearances.

moment the first reviews dealing with THANATOS' new album 'Justified Genocide'
are dripping in. And they all look very good to us! If this keeps up then it's
safe to say that the response to 'Justified Genocide' will be overwhelming. Not

Justified Genocide was awarded the status 'Album of the Week (aka One For The

2009: THANATOS (NL) about lyrics on JUSTIFIED GENOCIDE, new track posted.
A new
track off of THANATOS' soon to be released album 'JUSTIFIED GENOCIDE' has been

The band has expressed the desire to shed a light on the meaning of the lyrics that
are to be found on the CD, and about where inspiration was drawn from:
'To
avoid any unnecessary controversy we've chosen to explain some of the lyrics on
our upcoming new album 'Justified Genocide' to be released on Deity Down
Records (March 16th 2009 EU/world, April 8th Germany/Austria/Switzerland, April
6th 2009 UK/Ireland). Our lyrics simply deal with either historical events or
morbid fantasies but since touching upon certain topics already seems reason
enough for certain people to brand a band as Nazis (which we obviously are
not!) we have decided to do this, so here we go...
They
Feed On Fear
Our
leaders use people's fear for war and terrorist attacks to set more rules, so
they can control our lives even more. A total invasion of our privacy based on
fear. The chance of getting hit by a meteor is 1,000 times bigger than to fall
victim to a terrorist attack. Big
brother is watching you...

Chaos. Creation.
A little
fantasy/Sci-fi tale about an alien super race out to destroy humanity simply
because they feel superior. Sounds familiar? Hmmz, makes you wonder if aliens
are religious as well?!
The
Devil's Triangle
A song
about the alleged unholy alliance of Nazism, freemasonry and occultism during
WWII. The Third Reich's link to the occult is often overlooked, but was
definitely present. Castle Wewelsburg was said to be the unholy center of their
occult practices. We tried to express their sick and twisted views in this song
(which definitely are not our views!).

ironic story about being punished for you sins, lust and indulgence. There's no

Spiritual Evolution
This
song's theme basically ties in with the lyrics of 'The Devil’s
Triangle'...dealing with the belief-system of arcane rituals and potent symbols
of the Nazis in the 1930's and 40's, with the ancient swastika appropriated for
the Nazi cause. The word 'Upwards' in the title should be seen in a ironic
context as this new found 'religion' led to the murder and oppression of
millions during World War II.'

status update.
For those
who cannot wait: THANATOS' new album now is available from Deity Down Records'
shop section. Official storedates remain as stated earlier. There's more news…
DEVIOUS started the recording sessions for their new album. The CD will go by
the title 'VISION'. Release date: late August. VERMIN, MURDER THERAPY and
PERSISTENSE are close to making studio arrangements as well. Furthermore, we've
taken one extra project on. An official press statement will reveal details
within the next couple of weeks. Musically, think along the likes of Ayreon and
Avantasia.
07 February 2009: THANATOS artwork revealed.
The
artwork for 'JUSTIFIED GENOCIDE', the new full-length by Dutch veteran
Death/Thrash quartet THANATOS, created by the band's bass player MARCO DE
BRUIN, is done.
DEITY
DOWN RECORDS' release dates for this album, the fifth one in the band's 25 year
long career are now set to April 6 2009 (UK/Ireland) and March 16 (EU/World).
'JUSTIFIED GENOCIDE' will be the successor to 'Undead.Unholy.Divine' (Black
Lotus Records 2004).
