2011 News:

12 October 2011: General label news.

Finally something new to report, and the nature of the news is both good and bad.

First the good news: VERMIN (http://www.myspace.com/verminnl) has landed a 4 dates supporting GORGOROTH (http://www.gorgoroth.info) VADER (http://www.vader.pl) and VALKYRJA (http://www.myspace.com/valkyrjaswe) on their ‘The Sign Of Hell 2011’ tour.

Then the bad, or the less than good news: we’ve had to discontinue DEBT OF NATURE and VICTIMIZER. We wish them good luck. Due to the current state of the economy and the expectations for the mid-term future, we don’t believe that there will be a lot going on at Deity Down Records in 2012. There even is a good chance that the roster will decrease to 0 bands before things actually pick up. Just so you know.

11 May 2011: General label news.

Hi there! It has been a while, hasn’t it? Yes it has. So, time to give you the heads up about what’s been going on with Deity Down Records.

Let’s discuss the recent past first. Persistense has completed a NL/BE tour with the mighty and legendary Bitch (US) and the equally mighty Anger As Art (US). We’ve witnessed this package in action and it was nothing short of awesome. Thanks to all involved, and especially Henri (you know who you are!).

Debt Of Nature did their first NL show at Prilpop, Sevenum, and honestly, their show must’ve been the tightest, hottest and most exciting one we’ve ever see the band do. Thums up folks! This makes their forthcoming shows a must see for everybody who’s reading this. Go to Wemelskirchen (DE) where Debt Of Nature will open for Morgoth on May 20th!! Go to Fuck The Commerce on June 3rd!! Go to Celle Rock Fest on June 04th!! And go to Death Over Düsseldorf too.

Vermin has landed their first gig after the old line-up disintegrated. The new and rejuvenated band will be closing act of a festival at Café ‘De Kerel’ in Zundert (NL) on June 12th.

Victimizer have successfully integrated Arnold Oude Middendorp into their ranks, and the first few gigs with Arnold (May 5th, Bevrijdingsfestival, Wateringen, NL) are already behind us. We hear that the band has gained intensity, rather than losing any. That’s good! For more dates, visit http://www.myspace.com/victimizernl.

Something completely different now. Recently we’ve been asked this question a few times: ‘There haven’t been any new releases in your iPool lately. How come’? Well, on that topic we have something good and bad to report.

The bad news: there won’t be any new releases until 2012. The good news: there won’t be any new releases until 2012. Therefore our iPool will be cancelled shortly, since we don’t see the point of making the monthly costs when it’s just sitting there. It also means that, when the time comes, real records will be shipped out again. You may ask yourself why we’ve come to decide to take the rest of the year off…

Well, that’s simple. Some of the bands on the roster have had bad luck. Personnel changes due to which the bookings for shows were put on hold are one of them. What we’ve always said (no shows = no sales) still goes, so turnover has dropped (yes, contrary to what the newspapers tell you, there still is a crisis out there). We’d rather not invest in new signings right now.

That’s all for now folks! To quote Megadeth: ‘So far so good…so what?’.

29 March 2011: Debt Of Nature news.

Finally, another shred of news for you to devour. Today the spotlight completely is on our Düsseldorfer workforce Debt Of Nature. German only!!

Debt Of Nature Newsletter KW 13 2011

OBSCURITY, Prilpop Festival, MORGOTH, Celle Rock Festival, Fuck The Commerce XII

05 February 2011: Vermin, Persistense, Debt Of Nature and Deity Down Records news.

Let’s start off with VERMIN. It’s been really quiet around these guys for a long time, but they’re about to resurface with a renewed line-up and are just about ready to take on bookings. Curious? The band’s bio has been updated and can be found here. Furthermore, we have proof! The band has put a fair amount of rehearsal tracks online at http://www.reverbnation.com/vermindeathmetal. Or just hang around here and listen:

Next up, some hot news. PERSISTENSE will support Heavy Metal legend BITCH and thrashers ANGER AS ART on their upcoming trip to Europe. The following statement (courtesy of ANGER AS ART’s My Space blog) sheds some light on the matter:

BITCH TO TOUR EUROPE WITH ANGER AS ART SUPPORTING

Legendary LA based metal band BITCH (led by front woman Betsy Bitch) will do a short tour of 3 countries in Europe this spring… culminating in their featured appearance at Germany’s Keep It True Festival on April 29, 2011.  LA’s Anger As Art will support as both warm-up act on a few dates, and as Betsy’s backing band in Bitch. (Anger As Art will NOT perform at Keep It True)

“Planning this tour has been bitter-sweet” says Betsy.  “We lost our drummer/founding member Robby Settles to Leukemia last year, and it took the wind out of our sails.  We already had KIT booked before Robby passed, and other members were less than enthused about going over to play the show.  When I spoke with our bassist Steve Gaines, he had just played Keep It True with Abattoir in 2009, and was adamant that it was an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.  Steve offered that if we couldn’t find anyone to fill in that Anger As Art would be honored to perform as Bitch.  The rest is history.”

Says Steve Gaines: “Bitch was a huge influence on me, and I have been honored to be a member for the past 5 years.  Needless to say, this has been a very hard time with Robby’s passing.  However, I can say that there are no better guys to ‘be’ Bitch than AAA.  We all used to see each other at Bitch shows in LA back in the 80’s, and respect Betsy and their heritage – and that is what we plan to do.  Give metal fans in Europe Bitch in full effect.”

Also on the tour package will be Netherlands Metal band Persistense.

The dates are as follows:

Friday 22 April: Little Devil, Tilburg - Holland

Saturday 23 April: The Rambler, Eindhoven – Holland

Sunday 24 April: De Vinger, Den Haag – Holland

Monday 25 April: Metro, Waarschoot – Belgium

Tuesday 26 April: day off

Wednesday 27 April: De Rots, Antwerp – Belgium

Thursday 28 April: day off

Friday 29 April: KIT Germany

Our German pearls that go by the moniker DEBT OF NATURE has published a new newsletter, which they have been doing periodically. From this point in time on we’ll not only publish that to our contacts in the media, but here as well, so here we go (German only, sorry!!):

DEBT OF NATURE – Newsletter KW 05

And finally: a newsworthy fact of a general nature. Of yourse you knew that this label’s releases are available to you through just about every retail outlet in the world (but you gotta go there and ask for them to be ordered in!). You also knew that there’s a genuine shop section attached this domain where you can fulfill your metal needs. It’s a tad Spartan, agreed, but it works. Check it out here. And of course you knew that all of DDR’s releases can be purchased from all major digital download platforms such as iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, etcetera. Well now…

We’re setting up shop at Facebook too! So if you’re using The Social Network......

20 January 2011: PRESS RELEASE: New vocalist for Victimizer (NL Death).

Effective immediately, ARNOLD OUDE MIDDENDORP (NETHERSTORM, ex-DEVIOUS, ex-ALTAR) is the new vocalist for Nijmegen, Netherlands based Death quintet VICTIMIZER (http://www.victimizer.nl; http://www.myspace.com/victimizernl). He is replacing NIELS FEEKES, who chose to dedicate himself to his family, due to the coming birth of his second child. Niels' final show with Victimizer was at last December's Eindhoven Metal Meeting.

VICTIMIZER's new full-length 'TALES OF LOSS AND NEW FOUND SERENITY' (DEITY DOWN RECORDS) recently was released in the BeNeLux (November 01 2010), and in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (January 14 2011). The album will hit the stores in the rest of the world on February 7 2011.  So far this long awaited label debut CD was given nothing but praise by the international press.

Currently VICTIMIZER's line-up is as follows (left to right):

Andrew van der Schaft –Guitars

Chris Thompson Rossal - Bass

Arnold Oude Middendorp - Vocals

Richard Sastra - Guitars, Backing Vocals

Romeo Gerrits - Drums

Comments Gerard, owner of Deity Down Records: 'For Victimizer as well as for their album 'Tales Of Loss And New Found Serenity', Niels' decision came at the worst possible time and it affected the planning of band's near future severely. I urged the band to find a suitable replacement quickly. Victimizer then came up with Arnold, whom I know from his work with DEVIOUS ('VISION', Deity Down Records, 2009), and who owns one of the most brutal voices to be found in the Low Countries. Arnold wasn't asked to quit Devious, but unfortunately he has."

DEVIOUS’ statement about these events can be read at http://www.devious.nl.

01 January 2011: Happy New Year!

All the best. Motto for 2011: Play live And Prosper (Play Not, Be Gone).
